A 10-year-old Colleyville girl was in a hospital Sunday after her father accidentally shot her the night before while showing his gun, authorities reported.
Steven Johnson, 53, was showing his handgun to friends at his home Saturday night when it went off and a bullet went through the wall and struck his daughter, city spokeswoman Mona Gandy said. The home is in the 1600 block of Douglass Avenue.
A 14-year-old boy and his father were hurt during an accidental shooting Friday evening in northwest suburban Marengo.
The 43-year-old dad shot himself accidentally in the hand in the 400 block of North Hale Street around 5:20 p.m., said Marengo Police Department Sgt. Paul Fritz.
The bullet went through the dad’s hand, went through the 14-year-old boy forearm and hit the boy in the thigh, Fritz said.
BENTON TOWNSHIP, MI -- Police are investigating after a young boy was found dead with a gunshot wound in Berrien County early Wednesday morning.
Benton Township Police officers responded to a home in the 1600 block of Norton Street at 1:18 a.m. on the report of a shooting, according to a news release. When police arrived, they found a 3.5-year-old boy with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
TUNICA, Miss. —An enforcement officer for the Mississippi Gaming Commission died in an accidental shooting Wednesday at the agency's office in Tunica County.
Allen Godfrey, the commission's executive director in Jackson, said there was an accidental discharge of a gun about 9 a.m. and the officer, who has been identified as John B. Gorman, of Madison County, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Warren County Sheriff's Office Lt. Randy Lewis worked closely with Gorman.
"John was a friend, a colleague. Our condolences go out to his family and the Gaming Commission," Lewis said.
On Tuesday, Gorman was named director of investigations. He had worked with the commission for 20 years and had most recently served as branch director of the Vicksburg field office.
"It is the commission's understanding that John was shot and killed during a training exercise in Robinsonville," commission officials said in a news release. "The Mississippi Bureau of Investigations is currently handling the matter."
A 2-year-old boy in Tarpon Springs died Wednesday after deputies say he got his father’s gun from a glove box and accidentally shot himself in the chest.
Kaleb Ahles entered the vehicle outside his family’s home and apparently got the .380-caliber weapon from the secured glove box where it had been placed by his father, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said.
“It’s just one of those things that happens where everything lines up the wrong way,” Gualtieri said at a news conference. “You had a 2 1/2 year old who was able to take a gun, pick it up, turn it around and he shot himself dead center in the middle of the chest.”
RICHLAND TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — Two people were hurt when police say a gun accidentally discharged inside of a Giant Eagle grocery store this afternoon in Richland Township.
The incident happened around 2:45 p.m. at the store in Northtown Square just off of Route 8.
Police say they have taken one man into custody in connection with the incident. He is identified as 59-year-old Gerry Good of Gibsonia.
He is facing charges of two counts of simple assault and two counts of recklessly endangering another person.
“What had happened, the man shopping in Giant Eagle bent over to pick something up, he was wearing a fanny pack and had a .380 inside his fanny pack, when he bent over that fell on the floor and discharged, striking two other people inside the store with debris,” Chief Robert Amann, of Northern Regional Police, said.

SANDY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - A scary moment inside a Sandy restaurant when a man paying for his food drops a bag and a gun goes off.
It happened just before 1:30 Wednesday afternoon at the Chipotle near 104th South State Street.
Sandy Police say the man removed his backpack to pay for his meal and accidentally dropped it.
When the bag hit the floor, the handgun he had inside accidentally discharged.
A woman who was eating lunch with her family just a few feet away spoke to ABC 4 Utah about what she saw, "We we're all just eating lunch. MONROE – Police responded to an accidental discharge of a firearm which shot an 11 year-old boy in the cheek.
Police say the incident happened around 3:30 p.m. at 76 Partridge Drive in Monroe after a 911 call was made by a resident inside the home.
Police say at least one other family member was home at the time.
Lt. Keith White of the Monroe Police Department says the homeowner was securing his 9mm handgun when it accidentally discharged and struck his son while both men were in the basement.
“The round had come through the wall from an adjacent area of the basement struck him while he was a family room couch,” Lt. White said.

A 15-year-old boy shot and wounded his 14-year-old girlfriend late Monday afternoon inside his Coon Rapids apartment, then ran outside and fatally shot himself, authorities said.
Police were called to Winchester Place Apartments at 11291 Robinson Drive NW., about 4 p.m., after the boy’s mother, who was in the apartment at the time of the shooting, called 911. The boy had run out of the apartment.
Police found the girl had been shot in the chest and face but was alert enough to tell them that her boyfriend shot her and fled. She was taken to Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids and is expected to survive, said Anoka County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Commander Paul Sommer.

South Georgia man shoots armadillo, sending bullet
on zigzag path into mother-in-law's back
LEESBURG, Ga. – Authorities say a south Georgia man shot an armadillo, but ended up
accidentally wounding his mother-in-law when the bullet ricocheted off the mammal
known for its hard shell.
Lee County Sheriff's deputies tell WALB-TV (http://bit.ly/1FCGUBO) that 54-year-old
Larry McElroy fired his 9 mm pistol at the armadillo Sunday night.
Deputies say the bullet killed the armadillo, but bounced off the animal, hit a fence,
traveled through the back door of the mother-in-law's mobile home and the recliner
in which she was sitting, striking her in the back.
McElroy's 74-year-old mother-in-law, Carol Johnson, suffered injuries described as non-
life-threatening. Lee County sheriff's investigator Bill Smith said she was walking around
and talking afterward.
Lee County Sherriff's deputies say McElroy was about 100 yards away from the home
when he shot the armadillo.
