Police in Federal Heights are investigating the shooting death of a woman who was killed by a bullet from her recently purchased assault-style rifle.

The incident happened Tuesday night in the garage of a home in the 10000 block of Elliot Circle, said Lt. Gary Toldness, a Federal Heights Police Department spokesman.

Police were called to the home on a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found the victim, 22-year-old Anastasia Adair, in the garage. She was taken to Denver Health Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, Toldness said.

Adair and her husband, Dana "Shane" Adair, 40, were drinking beer in the garage with three other people — described as housemates — when Anastasia went into the home to get her recently purchased rifle to show it off, Toldness said.

Witnesses told investigators Anastasia Adair was coming downstairs back into the garage and was handing the rifle to Dana Adair when she slipped or stumbled. The rifle discharged and she was hit in the head. Dana Adair was close enough to his wife that he caught her as she fell.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, We mustn't forget what GW Bush said about bin Laden.
Quote:
Politico reports that supporters of George W. Bush are “irked” that the former president isn’t getting more credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden, despite the droves of conservatives lawmakers and pundits who have been rushing to give Bush equal credit as Obama.
But this praise for Bush relies on rewriting history to obscure the fact Obama re-prioritized the hunt for Bin Laden after Bush had largely abandoned the effort to focus on Iraq.
While many conservatives are triumphantly replaying Bush’s September 2001 declaration that he would find Bin Laden, just months later, by Bush’s own account, he was unconcerned about the terrorist mastermind. Asked about the hunt for Bin Laden at a March, 2002 press conference, Bush said, “I truly am not that concerned about him. I am deeply concerned about Iraq.” “I really just don’t spend that much time on him, to be honest with you,” Bush added.

Another case of the GOP president saying "I truly am not that concerned about him" to the GOP wanting to give Bush credit for Obama's action to find and kill him.

Bush did not even try for Bin Laden, as you say, CI. He was too focused on the notion that Iraqis would praise him as the great liberator and the rest of the Muslim world would automatically become democracies as a result.

@cicerone imposter,
I don't see that W deserves any credit for killing Laden.
I doubt that he wants any credit for it.
He refused to go to Washington, in celebration of it.

SPARTANBURG, South Carolina — Spartanburg County's coroner is planning an autopsy after a man was killed by a shotgun blast to his chest.

Spartanburg police say 20-year-old David Allen Moholland was shot to death on Monday. His girlfriend was charged with murder. She is 21-year-old Erika Michelle Sutelman. Jail officials could not be reached Tuesday to find out whether she had an attorney.

Coroner Rusty Clevenger says an autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.

Police say the couple had been staying at a Spartanburg apartment as guests of another couple.

A police report says Sutelman told officers they were playing with a 12-gauge shotgun inside the apartment and she thought the gun's safety was on so she pulled the trigger, hitting Moholland.

People don't accidentally kill themselves with forks on a daily basis.
