Police in Federal Heights are investigating the shooting death of a woman who was killed by a bullet from her recently purchased assault-style rifle.
The incident happened Tuesday night in the garage of a home in the 10000 block of Elliot Circle, said Lt. Gary Toldness, a Federal Heights Police Department spokesman.
Police were called to the home on a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found the victim, 22-year-old Anastasia Adair, in the garage. She was taken to Denver Health Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, Toldness said.
Adair and her husband, Dana "Shane" Adair, 40, were drinking beer in the garage with three other people — described as housemates — when Anastasia went into the home to get her recently purchased rifle to show it off, Toldness said.
Witnesses told investigators Anastasia Adair was coming downstairs back into the garage and was handing the rifle to Dana Adair when she slipped or stumbled. The rifle discharged and she was hit in the head. Dana Adair was close enough to his wife that he caught her as she fell.

Asheboro, NC -- A 2-year-old boy accidentally shot himself Saturday after finding a gun in his home, according to the Asheboro Courier-Tribune.
Deputies say the accident happened around 2 p.m. on Spring Valley Road, just outside the Asheboro city limits. The boy's father immediately rushed him to Randolph Hospital, and he was later transferred to Brenner Children's Hospital.
Deputies told the Courier-Tribune the boy is expected to survive.
The boy's mother, father and three siblings were home at the time of the accident.
The Courier-Tribune says the 2-year-old found the gun in his parents' bedroom and put it in his mouth, where it fired.
A 12-year-old boy accidentally shot his 8-year-old brother Saturday at a home on Old Rafe Mayer Road, sending the 8-year-old to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office reported.

I doubt that he wants any credit for it.
He refused to go to Washington, in celebration of it.

Witnesses said the grandfather had .22 caliber weapon to shoot something in yard. The woman reportedly tried to take the weapon from her grandfather when it fired accidentally, striking her in the lower chest or upper abdomen. Her injury was not believed to be life threatening.
A 10-year-old girl is dead and police say it was another child who pulled the trigger.
There are still many unanswered questions, including the identity of the young girl. It is still an ongoing investigation. Police have not released many details because they are still trying to figure out whether it was an accident or something else.
A 14-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the leg Tuesday night at a home on Fairview Avenue in Lebanon, according to police.
The victim was with another 14-year-old friend looking at a gun on the front porch of the home when it discharged, police said. The victim told police he accidently shot himself while handling the gun
