In that instance, I believe that approximately 5 were drowned.

A Florida woman accidentally shot her friend in the leg while waiting in line at a Starbucks on Saturday.

Police say Pamela Beck and Amie Peterson were getting coffee at the Tyrone Square Mall in St. Petersburg when Beck moved to set her bags down in order to pay for her drink.

Her purse "hit the ground hard," St. Petersburg Police spokesman Mike Puetz told The Huffington Post, and a fully loaded .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun that was in the bottom of the handbag fired, striking Peterson above the knee.

CORSICANA — A toddler died late Wednesday after accidentally shooting himself.

Corsicana Police Chief Randy Bratton said the boy's 35-year-old father called 911 just before 9 p.m. and told dispatchers his son shot himself at the family's home on North 30th Street.

An 11-year-old boy shot a 12-year-old child in the face in Camden, New Jersey on Friday in what authorities are describing as an accident. The child is being treated an area hospital and is expected to survive.

"We have the 11-year-old and the 11-year-old's parents with us, they are fully cooperative," Chief Scott Thomson of the Camden County Regional Police said, according to WPVI-TV. "We're trying to get to the bottom of what happened."

DENTON (CBSDFW.COM) – A five-year-old who was shot in the head on Saturday has passed away. The investigation is still ongoing and no charges are being filed at this time, but that can change pending further investigation, according to Denton police spokesman Officer Orlando Hinojosa.

Police say the 5-year-old’s older brother accidentally shot him in the head with a .22 caliber rifle while the two boys were in a bedroom alone at a home in 2700 block of Stockton Street in Denton.

AURORA - Aurora Police are investigating an accidental shooting that occurred in the parking lot of Rangeview High School Monday afternoon.

Police say an employee of the school accidently shot a Rangeview student in the leg. The employee is not a teacher at the school.

It happened close to an hour after school had been dismissed for the day. Police say the two individuals know one another.

A 55-year-old Santa Fe woman has been charged after she allegedly waited hours before taking her wounded teenage son to a hospital after a shooting, spending time on the Internet searching for information about the boy's wound, authorities said.

Deborah Tagle is charged with one count of injury to a child with intent to commit bodily injury, according to the Santa Fe Police Department.

The charge came after Tagle's 14-year-old son was struck by gunfire about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the family's home in the 10440 block of 27th Street.

Santa Fe police said the teen's friend, 24-year-old Pete Jesse Rodriguez, was "playing" with the pistol and pointed it directly at the teen.

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Police say a 74-year-old woman was on her way to Mother's Day mass when she was struck in the head by a bullet.

The woman is expected to be okay.

Witnesses say it appears it was a freak accident.

She was standing on the footsteps of the church, chatting with people when the bullet landed on her head.

Witnesses say Merced Estrada felt the bullet hit her head, but no one nearby heard a shot fired. Her husband picked up a bullet that landed right next to her.

Estrada was taken to the hospital where police say she is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say their preliminary investigation shows someone may have fired a gun in a nearby neighborhood and that the bullet came down right where the woman was standing.

TULLAHOMA, Tenn. - A 13-month-old child remains hospitalized, and her father is behind bars after police said the girl was shot in the chest.

The incident happened Sunday shortly after 11 p.m. at the East Gate Apartment Complex. Tullahoma police responded to unit H8 to find the baby shot in the chest.

Police reported the child's father, 26-year-old Kevin Sayre, was taking apart a handgun inside the apartment, when a 9mm round was discharged, striking the victim in the chest.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says an Ames man accidentally shot himself Monday night at a Webster County shooting range.

The DNR says 33-year-old Chris Degan was unloading his 9mm handgun at the Brushy Creek shooting range just after 5:00 p.m. when the weapon discharged into his left hand. A friend took Degan to a Webster City hospital and he was transferred by air ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A 16-year-old is dead after a gun accidentally went off inside a car in west Harris County Tuesday evening, say investigators.


It happened Tuesday at around 6:30pm. As many as five teens were in a silver sedan at the time the gun was discharged.

JUPITER, Fla. - A man accidentally shot himself Tuesday night at the Jupiter Lanes Bowling Alley located on Maplewood Drive.

The man's own gun accidentally discharged, injuring him, said Jupiter Police Officer Adam Brown.

Several witnesses said that the gun was in the bowler's pocket when it went off, terrifying other players.

A member of the Warlocks motorcycle club shot his girlfriend in the head last night after snorting meth and then smoking marijuana to come down from the meth, Upper Darby police said.

Following the shooting, neighbors told police they could hear the shooter, 31-year-old Michael DeLuca, say to his girlfriend: "Get up. You know I love you," according to Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.
