@edgarblythe,
Did you get that rain, edgar? I don't think we did.

Humming a tune sung years ago by Gordon Lightfoot, Sybil bustles around the kitchen. Chopping veges and making a chicken stock for soup. Wassau is due back any minute and he'll take over so she can go home for a while. Tad isn't working out. He's entirely too involved with himself and his appearance. Wassau fired the poor lad and took him back uptown to his parents house. Wassau is a kind, but demanding person.

The new girl starts this afternoon. Brunette and slender, named Serena. She's a calm type. Much needed in the cafe.

@Lola,
About nine thirty, perhaps, we had a ten minute shower.

To much or not enough. That's standard for where I live. A few years back, drought killed countless trees, then we had a season kept the dead trees flooded.

@edgarblythe,
We've had a couple of days of an absolute deluge of rain here in the Sandwich Isles. This morning it's partly sunny, interrupted by the occasional shower.

You think Texas has probs, edgar? Here on just one medium-sized island (by world standards), i.e. the Big Island of Hawaii, the East Coast (Hilo-side) is constantly suffering from near-flood conditions while up north, on the Kahola peninsula, they've had serious drought conditions for several years now. As the realtors like to say, it's all about location, location, location.

@Lustig Andrei,
When I was in Hawaii, the sky was blue, but for some tiny clouds that could drop some sprinkles if they passed overhead.

What do you like about this sculpture, Osso?

It must be either its phallicity or its value.

@Lola,
It was stunningly beautiful to me when I saw it. Hard to put into words. Elegance comes to mind. I'm something of a fan of the etruscans anyway.

@ossobuco,
I can't imagine life without TV. Reading erudite tomes on the sofa about the US whilst watching a low scoring five-day Test Match in which both sides have a chance up to the end is something I wouldn't care to be without.

TV is a dangerous drug. I think,on the whole, we should get rid of it. But all addicts think that. Not that I watch it all that much.

I could probably talk about television all day. Everyday. It is fascinating like a diamond with hundreds of facets is.

Where does it go from here. The day will come when up thumbing and down thumbing will be used in elections.

"To vote for Sophie Clapsaddle Cox (Women) Call 1234-569-01
To vote for Calvin Nipsqueaker (Men) Call 1234-569-02
To vote for Big Chief Sitting Bull (Restoration) 1234-569-03
To spoil ballot Call 1234-569-04.

Calls will be charged at $2 a minute on landlines and may be more with other service providers."

Or even referendums. You could govern yourselves. Unemployment would be archaic.

@spendius,
Osso's not the only A2ker w/o a telly. Roger doesn't have one and neither do I. Last time I had one available was a couple or three years ago when I was renting a furnished house wherein the furnishings included two TV sets. I'll admit I tried to watch from time to time but finally ended up using only the VCR function. With 99 cable channels available, there's still nothing worth watching!

@Lustig Andrei,
totally agree...i remember when the uk had only 3 channels, and the programming seemed much better. nowadays i only watch documentaries, and topical comedy (NOT sit-coms).

i'd rather do a youtube search tbh.

@Lustig Andrei,
Oh there is Andrie. Have you not noticed how absurd TV makes a lot of people look? (leaving out the tragic stuff).

Try Prof. Brian Cox.

@spendius,
brian cox is the don. not so sure about "wonders of life though". not found it as good as "wonders of the solar system" and "wonders of the universe".

he did a good lecture on QM though.

not bad for one of the people responsible for "things can only get better", and THAT vision of neil kinnock trying to dance to it when labour got elected back in 97 (was it 97?)

@Berty McJock,
I can't watch 58 minutes of anything if there's no skirt lifting, Jock.
