I believe I can speak for all Mennonites in wishing everyone a loving and sacred day and in reminding you that if the angel at the top of your christmas tree is the type with the motorized halo, you're going to burn in hell forever.

Why not have some of Wassau's delicous Christmas treats - he's had the kitchen elves working flat out to prepare a Christmas feast for you all.

@vonny,
Oh vonny!! I just love that cake at the front. Nommie-non-nom--nommie nom. May I have those three slices all to myself. Crusty fruit cake with a soft moist centre. Oh me Oh my--love that sort of pie.

On second thoughts you can have the three slices and I'll have the rest. And a glass of Full Dry Barbadillo Oloroso.

Thanks--you can leave the bottle.

@spendius,
You can have all of my cake - if I can eat the savoury items! Oh, and I'll have mine with a glass of Medium Dry Amontillado ... be a perfect end to a rather (traditionally) boring day! Laughing

Or is that the savoury pie you fancy? Oh - okay - you can have that too. Plenty of other goodies on the table!

@spendius,
This ...

http://i1334.photobucket.com/albums/w641/Walter_Hinteler/a_zps20bfdd67.jpg

... is a stollen, made with wine (and thus, sold in bakeries and at vineyyards in Meißen [which is close to Dresden)]

Otherwise, locals have as wine a "Traminer" (savagnin blanc/Gewürztraminer) with the Stollen.

@firefly,
My husband would probably make big inroads into all of the trifle and cakes pictured - he is one of the lucky people who stays reed thin whilst stuffing himself with cakes, biscuits and chocolates over the Christmas holiday. My big weakness is still Stollen cake - the Wine Stollen in Walter's post made my mouth water! And with a nice Sauvignon Blanc - mmm very tasty. But I must admit, your Pear Cranberry Tart looks divine.
