@Thomas,
Yes, Thomas, Wendy Davis is a saint. I wish I could have driven down to Austin for the event. But I was trying to get a job.

But, OK, it's champagne for everybody, I got the stupid job. It's definite, finally. Yippee. I'm going to be me again.

@Lola,
Ok, I'll happily take a glass of champagne, Lola. I'm happy for you and for your future cohorts to have you. We should probably have some horses hooves with the iced champagne and other beverages of choice.

mmmm, reading here re what goes with champagne -
here's some -

caviar and salmon blini tortes (I'm fine with some caviar type thing with water crackers myself)
caviar on pumpernickel with sour cream
pastry puffs with caviar
asparagus parmesan pastry rolls
figs with champagne
serrano ham and manchego cheese
cantalope with prosciutto
moroccan salmon skewers
mushrooms in cream sauce wrapped in phyllo
baked brie and crackers
oh shut up, I'm getting hungry

Rubber ducks are authentic, so I take that as a compliment. Here, spendi, have a canope (with an accent).

I'll have a big hunk of that baked brie and some ice cream, please dear Wassau. He's always been cheering for me. He's such a sweetie.....he loves me, and I love him. (All this gushing is mostly for spendi; the rest of you already know it.)

No Wassie, not that little bit of scrapping from the top of the ice cream.........that's not a serving. Here, fill this giant mixing bowl full and hot fudge too.

Sitting on sofa, feet up on ottoman, happy.

At least this time, Lola got what she wanted. Smile

I'm very happy for you, Lola. And I will have some of that champagne, to help wish you luck in your new job.

Congratulations, Lola. That's great!

Afraid I can't accept the champagne. It never fails to give me indigestion.

But if it's all the same, I'll have a shot of Jack Daniels (black). And to save steps you can leave the bottle if you like.

Hmmmm . . . that's interesting. (Scratching chin, wrinkling forehead.) How does that make you feel? Would you say it's important to you to be you?

Well done to little miss dynamite. Whatever Lola wants, indeed. I'm more than moderately gratified by these tidings.
Champagne gives me heartburn, though. I never saw the appeal in it. I'll have a nice cup of tea.
