Congratulations, Lola!

I'll take those flutes of champagne that Debacle and McTag don't want.
Can't let a good celebration go to waste!

Hope the new position is everything you want. When do you start?

Hiya all... Thought I'd show you some "Thai" food, we could try, http://i873.photobucket.com/albums/ab292/CHANDLERSWISH/phuket072.jpg

Please be very careful of uncooked veggies in tropical countries, especially asian. I don't eat any, even 5-star restaurants. The revenge is nasty and can ruin a very fun time. Wait till you get home. Eat only fruit that you peel and make sure the peels are not punctured. If they are, take a deep cut out of these areas and do not use the knife again if it is contaminated.......

Supremo congrats to Lola - Hip-hip Hurray!!!!

Wassau, this French toast is the perfect brunch after all that champagne last night.

@firefly,
You didn't have much champagne last night ff. If any.

You would have something more interesting to entertain us with if you had "all that champagne". Something with more French about it than two slices of toasted bread with melted cheese on them.

There should really only be one because the second one is past its best by the time you have the first. Assuming you are ladylike at the trough point.

The thing is to have the maid watching the grill with the second one to time its arrival on the plate just as the last of the first one disappears down the hatch so that the transition is seamless.

It is one of my favourites but I don't like the extraneous stuff cluttering up my taste buds. What are those other things?

Bread, butter and mature Cheddar with no burnt edges and bubbling. Nom, nom, nommy nomnom!

I would have it every day if it wasn't for fear of me getting the gout.

@spendius,
Isn't that your hand waving from somewhere down on the floor, Spendi? I thought the guy with the red tie was the bartender!

@BillW,
We were very lucky in Bali, a few years ago Bill. Phuket we were advised that water is ok to drink, but we didn't chance it Smile Most of those un-cooked vegetables were pickled.. We had a Caesar Salad whilst there, I was a bit worried lols, more so thinking of the lettuce being washed in their water but all was fine.. Naturally, we were hesitant to eat from the stalls, or the Gypsy Restaurants and were surprised to see food hung ready to be cooked, and off course no re-fridgeration and off course, flys ? Goodness me, they have strong stomachs over there that is all I have to say .

Jakarta, Indonesia - back in the early '80's and spent a year in Viet Nam in 1969-70.

You do know that Bali is Hindu and the rest of Indonesia is Muslim?

I am not sure what Phuket is, I would assume Buddist? This is because they are majority Thai.

After looking it up:

"The main religion on Phuket, as in the rest of Thailand, is Theravada Buddhism. Theravada, literally the “Doctrine of the Elders”, is the name of the school of Buddhism that draws its scriptural inspiration from the Pali Canon, or Tipitaka, which scholars generally accept as the oldest record of the Buddha’s teachings."

BTW, about 35% is Muslim.

Belated congrats on the new job, Lola. I've been off-line all weekend (since Thu., in fact) and just catching up now. Break a leg...or a pencil...or something.

@BillW,
That's interesting Bill. We noticed predominately only a small amount of people gave "food and water" to their "Gods", but in Bali, every single shop did it, that makes sense now as to religion.

There were an abundance of people at the Temples on the Sunday, just before we left . Excluding the tourists, 70% would have been locals.

I only bought back a lucky "elephant"...

Would have been great to live over there for that period of time...

Guess, that's our journey in 5 - 10 years..

I'm sure you can give us some good tips along the way, which we would appreciate.

Is LOLA STILL EXCITED? Wink
