@spendius,
Whenever the World Cup is on, there's always at least a couple of players I'm familiar with regardless of who's playing. It means I'm never really neutral, there's always one side I can get behind, normally if they've got a member of Southampton's 1st team in the squad.

@Thomas,

Quote:
Nevertheless, not being born is the only certain path to immortality. As Richard Dawkins so optimistically wrote, "we are all going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones."

Did you see that quotation recently, from our author Ian Banks who, knowing he was soon to die of cancer, said "I've asked my partner Adele if she will do me the honour of becoming my widow."

@spendius,
And this knowledge should impress me how?
There are tens of thousands of 11 year olds in the US that can name all the species of arthropods in each of the UK countries (and Ireland) , that impresses me neither.

Racquetball is not fast Lola. It only looks fast to the untrained eye.

It's faster than golf.

I bet it can't do 4 days at 7 hours a time of brilliant TV with millions watching worldwide only spoiled by an American commentator talking to us as if we are about 5.

The simple life eh? No chemicals on your farm are there by any chance?

It's an affectation fm. You did a 40 mile round trip to fetch a pizza for ****'s sake. And had the coastguard looking out for your safety when you went to see the whales.

It amazes me how some people can be so deluded about themselves.

It's Father's Day in the U.S. today. So, I hope the dads who were celebrated today, all had an enjoyable day.

I have nothing but great memories of my own dad--he was a wonderful man, very generous and giving, very loving and affectionate, he supported me in everything I ever wanted to do, and was always there for me. He was also playful and funny and just a great guy. I think I really lucked out when it comes to dads.

I'd like to offer a toast to my dad, and other great dads.
