@Lustig Andrei,
I naturally thought of Henry Waxman, the California Representative in congress..

He probably likes bagels too.

Well, I remember Al Waxman, so I didn't see anything odd about their naming an omelette after him in his hometown, particularly at a place he frequented. And I've never heard of Henry Waxman.

But then, because of ehBeth's post, I, naturally, began thinking about salami, something I haven't eaten in ages. And now I can't stop thinking about eating salami. I probably won't have a peaceful moment until I get my hands on some salami--preferably kosher salami.

Wassau, dear...

Busy in here lately - I see Wassau has taken on extra help!

Cold in England today - I'd rather like a virtual Mexican regional sandwich - mmm, perhaps one with potatoes and chorizo all dipped in a delicious guajillo sauce

@vonny,
I'm not sure what a regional Mexican sandwich is, but it looks good.

Wassau, please ask Sybil to make me one of those - and bring a to-go container because that looks like it could easily be breakfast and lunch.

Tortas. Love 'em. (FYI, the best ones are found at Tortas El Guero in Phoenix.)

Torta el pastor ... yummy.

@ehBeth,
I thought torta was a flatbread like a bannock?

@vonny,
and bannock - in Canada - is an Innu bread - usually prepared on the campfire

Sounds similar to the bannock of my childhood in the North-East of England - not too far from Scotland! To me a bannock was a flat bread made in the same sort of way as the Innu bread, but baked in an oven. It was quick and easy to make - didn't keep well, so best eaten hot with lots of butter - mmm!
