long before Cagney and Lacey, Al was the star of King of Kensington
Kensington Market is a Toronto neighbourhood sort of like the one featured in Crossing Delancey.
The Bagel Stop was a real-life deli just north of the market where Al and his pals would often go for breakfast on Saturdays when he was in town. It was always great to see the guys gathering there to tell their stories.
When I saw Broadway Danny Rose, the Carnegie Deli Scenes (check at around 2:00) always reminded me of the Bagel Stop

The reference to an AL WAXMAN is lost on me. Was he a sammichophile?
thanks, many people blame me for not introducing folks and while I know that a wikepedia is a click away, Id never know the context of the reference in this discussion.
