I'm sorry fm. I wasn't as clear as I usually am. I didn't mean evolution in the Venus of Willendorf manifestation. I obviously meant human evolution because I used "women" and "men".

I meant it in terms of DIY shops which supply materials for constructing currachs unstable in swimming pools, electric toothbrushes, cross-stitch, NFL and beer cans.

Having confessed my error, apologised and corrected it I still think that evolution wouldn't have worked with women larger than men. Have you any scientific proof that it would?

BTW- the British Beekeepers Association, in discussing the European ban on certain insecticides, said that "science has brought bees to their knees".

I have no idea whether it is correct but anybody who hasn't noticed the absence of bees, and other insects, in recent years really does have ADD. Studying a NCSE publicity handout is one way of pretending that he doesn't.

When you start defining ADD in relation to what you give attention to you really have **** your hole full.

Foxes U-Bet does make a malt syrup, but purists would never use that in an egg cream. Of course, if you made it in the privacy of your own home, and no one knew about it.....Under such conditions of secrecy, I myself have been known to substitute orange flavored seltzer for plain seltzer in my egg creams but, don't breath a word about that to anyone.

I promise I won't. Such a confession should remain confidential and restricted to a narrow circle of discreet friends.

Is there anything else now that you are making a clean breast of your carnalities?

And why do I find myself wondering about what is behind the umbrella?

Maybe because of how these folks stuff their faces, Frank.

I needed this today. Been raining on and off all day in Hilo. That's the ever-popular FTR ( "...The Rain) umbrella, favored by all iconoclasts.

I like their feistiness, and they cannot be owned, which I've said before.

I can't even access it with your link. It just takes me to a home page which tells me I've no right to be there.

I just counted. I have ten umbrellas. People are always leaving one here or I borrow one from somebody who says "Keep it." I went to a convention the other day, one of the giveaways was an umbrella, They gave me my choice.

I picked a green one.

I own an umbrella. A really nice one my wife bought for me from the Sharper Image. I used it in Kansas all the time. I've never once used it here in Arizona, although I do know where it is. Once, I could have used it, but I didn't have it with me.

@farmerman,
It's dead here. A gentle breeze occasionally ruffling the rhododendron bushes. Two magpies, I assume a cock and a hen, have built a nest on one of my trees. The little robin hops about when they are not in sight. Two blackbirds go over my lawn with their worm detector two or three times a day. I saw one pull out a resistant worm as tight as Auntie Nellie's corset straps. There's two pigeons as well and a chaffinch appeared yesterday for a nosy around. A sparrow has just lit on one of my flower tubs on the terrace.

Where I sit at the keyboard gives me a view of the garden and I often find myself watching the antics of these creatures.
