@spendius,

There's nobody in your joint who is qualified to make invidious comparisons with my attention capacities.

While this may not be the case, it is true that we have not enough evidence of the sort needed to make a clear, professional diagnosis. However, I think fm was using the term ADD as allegory. I believe he meant that he, and very possibly many others in the cafe experience your posts as scattered in subject and action, resulting in confusion on their part. I'll let fm speak for himself on this because my conjecture is only that without fm's confirmation.

It's Wassau's cafe, my thread and Sybil's employment. I won't tolerate a poster who adds nothing but disruption with no other value to offer. It's for me to say whether I'll ignore whatever-his-handle is. Others have their own choice. I merely made a suggestion. I'm hoping as many people as possible took my advise.

Boundaries are necessary, if life is to be enjoyed, whether it's a liberal place or not. Mrs. Thatcher did make a few good decisions in her time; supporting health care for all is one huge one. She was, in my opinion, a tight ass with many mistaken values, but she did know a boundary and a need to protect it when she saw one.

@firefly,
Firefly, I think it helps when reading what spendi writes to add, at the beginning of most of his sentences or paragraphs the following phrase, :In spendi's opinion. He is a source of interesting information and he can be very entertaining to me. I appreciate everyone's tolerance of my self indulgence.

So ... does everyone with ADD not have a sense of humor?

No, the presence of a lack of a sense of humor is not, in and of itself diagnostic.

Aw c'mon Lola. You like going to the gym. Think of all the virile men with sedentary occupations I suppose are to be found there and I bet you look eye-ball popping cute in your kit.
Shopping for the kit alone must be quite exciting.

At times earlier in my life, this was indeed true. But now.......well let's say that considering my age, I look ok and the others at the gym are largely either too old or too young to catch my attention. However, I'm hopeful that someone will emerge eventually.

Wassau won't tolerate that either. He just posted this outside.

@vonny,
Think I'll have that later, vonny. It looks good for dinner. Right now I'd just like a snack, and this fits the bill.

The jazz flutist Herbie Mann was born on this date in 1930. He used to perform at the Village Gate, which is right near this cafe. I'm listening to his Memphis Underground while I'm having my cake and coffee.
Quote:
Mann emphasized the groove approach in his music. Mann felt that from his repertoire, the "epitome of a groove record" was Memphis Underground or Push Push, because the "rhythm section locked all in one perception."

Great music to help one mellow out and feel good.

Ossobuco, Firefly...

...Nancy and I go on three or four Jazz cruises on the Hudson each summer. They are trips from the Chelsea Piers down to the Statue...and then up the East River to the Brooklyn Bridge and back to Chelsea again.

They are very, very enjoyable...and the jazz is great.

BUT...the jazz of today does not hold a candle to the jazz of yesteryear.

How I long for that kind of classical jazz...which probably will never come back for things like river cruises.

Go to Washington Square, Frank. You can enjoy good jazz there a lot cheaper ... Wink

@farmerman,

SPENDI should seek out the file for the CBC docudrama called "ADD and LOVING IT".

And what useful information, in a nutshell, might I find there fm? From what I can gather I have this condition, to which you seem to have referred, like I have eyesight. More or less average for my years, I would hazard a guess, except when some pretty ladies are going past as they do on the path from the church door in the Easter sunshine after learning that three days is the official waiting for the resurrection and what wonders it does for the cherry blossoms. Or indeed, on the front row of the can-can,

It is no use whatsover (tautology for emphasis) my studying any intellectual literature. I simply cannot give such things any attention at all.

It sounds to me like something got up by people whose attention has certain characteristics which they define as being satisfactory from their point of view. Somebody who says "I can't be arsed doing ******* crosswords puzzles, there's enough ******* puzzles without voluntarily adding to them," has, under the terms heretofore specified, got ADD. QED. You don't need to have seen a photo of Einstein's cat to be able to figure a simple thing like that.

And it provides an unimpeachable excuse for goofing off so it's bound to catch on.

Apart from the multi branched powers of Bhur deposition, what is it that Einstein's cat is able to accomplish that SChrodinger'could not.

See, a little focus on what you are saying would deny me the opportunities to dwell on your acute ADD condition.
