Tried, but my last attempt was abysmal! Will persevere though - my brain needs a workout!

@vonny,
HAve read a number of the acronyms as theyve gotten purposefully longer. Most are cute but lightweight. Ive found that, if you focus on the tone you wish to apply and create a "working phrase" that summarizes your point, then making an acceptable acronym is actually quite easy.

Spenid is overly impressed as how a word will "morph" into another in just a few steps. Well duhh That is the entire point of the puizzle. If spendi extracts every 5 new words, he will be always amazed at how the morphing works.

I wonder whether hes as pleasantly surprised how remarkeably the roads connect between Lands End and John o Groats

@farmerman,
What is actually required, fm, rather than such self-serving spiels as that tripe is, is that you play the games and we will judge what is what from your performance.

Why are the submissions on the A thread "cute but lightweight"? Can anything ff and vonny do be lightweight? Can anything cute be lightweight?

And the gifted wits in the A game, who are not being tested by some in-house fiddle, possibly less crude than the one in Louisiana, which raises self-esteem where it is undeserved, put forth evidence that they don't just swan it on the sidelines swatting at what are asserted to be sitting ducks.

If it is as easy as you say why don't you give it a go or keep your gob shut? It is for other gamesters to decide how easy you find the construction of acronyms after you have applied the method you recommend.

There you go again. It's a really bad habit to be making self-validating assertions all the time. I am impressed by a player consistently showing signs of having thought about their choice of a word. I can "morph" words all day long. "Oprah" for example. She morphed out of Mrs Norris types.

I am not in the least surprised at the road links in the UK. I have been a cog in the machine that provides them. I'm schizophrenic on whether I approve.

Imagine, if it is possible, Henry James, Jane Austen, Frank Harris, Mae West, Bob Dylan, Germaine Greer, Henry Miller and Thorstein Veblen playing the A game. That would be fun.

Take the tone to be "men are like carrots: cheap and plentiful and easily cooked" and do COMICAL for us.

Understanding you when you are "swimming in the suds", is kinda hard for lower classes like me. I am assuming you are talking of GovJindal . (GOOD GAWD , have you turned on Bobby Jindal?,why you scamp!!!)

I did give it a "go". I speak from experience. I put all those games on COLLAPSE. If you go back you will see my name in some early posts , playing along like a maniac. Ive since moved on to gardening where the outcomes are more seasonally adjusted.

Really? I think theyd move on to gardening or some film game like some that Tsarstepan had begun. So you dont marvel at the connections tween Lands End and John o Groats? I think theyre lovely from several PsOV. Ive always said you were jaded by losing you home the Blitz.

Give farmerman a break. Not everyone wants to take the time to primp and get gussied up, the way you do, spendius. just to show up to construct acronyms.

By the time you finish getting yourself ready, and tear yourself away from your mirror, we're generally onto another word other than the one you were working on for your acronym.

I always have difficulty judging "what is what" from your performance. Laughing

Could you pass the cream cheese, please, spendi, my bagel is in need of a schmear.

ff's post is out of your pay grade fm.

What are those dark stains on Ms West's frock due to. It looks like she had an accident with the sauce. From what I judge of the Willendorf Venus it was a Christian accident.

Perhaps,ff, you would not be quite so ready to spring to fm's defence if you had witnessed the years of bullying I was subjected to by a claque of atheists, which he was the undisputed leader of, in my defence of the Christian way of life to which we all owe such a debt of gratitude that words are inadequate to express it.

I have gone nowhere near the level of vituperation that came my way during that extensive period. And it is all on the record for anyone to consult should they have a few months to spare. I was even complimented occasionally for my forbearance.

@vonny,
I think I might have posted on that thread a few times. My preferred tastes are pretty well known to anybody who pays attention to my posts but music interests me generally from various points of view. Like love and beauty it is off the scientific agenda.

I'm reading Mansfield Park. That's very musical. Heaven might be reading Jane Austen for ever. Every young man setting out into the minefield should study that book. Never mind Darwin. That's amateurish. "Infusoria" indeed!!
