The new page bumper Wassau hired has finally shown up for work...He's a no-nonsense fellow who really gets the job done.

I'll have a coffee, cream ans sugar, and a Cleo breakfast sammich . . . that's a toasted muffin, with a cheeseburger, three strips of bacon, three sausage links, a fried egg, a quarter pound of shaved ham and some thinly-sliced tomatoes on it.

Well, it's about time he showed up. What's your name? Buster? OK Buster, welcome and get to work.

The Cleo sandwich will go at the top of the menu and I'm sure it will be very popular here at Cafe 101.

I think Set would agree to that addition. If not, I'm sure he'll tell us. A Cleo sandwich on the house for everyone today, in honor of the blessed life of Cleo the girl dog.

@vonny,
They are only simplistic if you want them to be. If, for example, to take the simplest case, you were doing "tart" on the 4-letter game. There are a number of possibilities but not all of them have some connection, or allusion, to "tart". And of the ones that do, "rate" say, to choose a delicate example, might be distasteful and not suitable when it is before the watershed somewhere all the time. But we do have a choice in the matter.

Is "trap" the best choice? Tarts are traps for weight-watchers and sclerotics and so by choosing "trap" one has not only played the game, unlike those snooty intellectuals whose dignity would not suffer to have its wits tested, but also provided a timely warning to those unfortunates who find tarts irresistible and thus "trap" might be followed with "rapt". TARP would be too, too witty I'm afraid.

Obviously such a way of playing applies to the other word games. But sometimes there are words which lend themselves to little in this way and whatever word that can fit has to do to keep the game going and hope another word of more use comes along as it surely will.

I tried to introduce players on the 6 letter game to this way of playing and I met resistance. But they made the effort for a while but soon gave up and it is now defunct and it pricks my conscience that it might be my fault for asking for too much activity of mind.

Have you tried ACRONYMS?

@spendius,
I now see you have. CLANDESTINE eh? I'll ponder that in the pub.

@spendius,
Better ponder a different word, spendi, CLANDESTINE is already taken. I can't imagine why you'd want to leave this place to go to the pub.

I'm glad vonny joined in the Acronym game. Perhaps others will too.

@firefly,
Well ff--there is no rule that I can't acronym CLANDESTINE in Lola's delightful salon.

Cringing like a neutered dog Eddie sweet talked Irene's natural EBULLIENCE.

Firefly

"engagement didn't end marriage did"... Thanks I may use that if I can ..

Joe............."Lost Soul" bahaha. Grrrr. I'm left handed and that is why it's 5 years, "have to face him" Confused

Spend... hello... I play some of those games you know... "Quite friendly mmm"...

Eh-Beth... "Big?" Yes.. there's a photo, (there is another one on the right hand side, didn't come out in the photo so 3 diamonds) I guess it was because they were his "Mother's" diamonds but I think everyone is right, a gift. He still has the white gold ring that was hers and I am sure he'd pass them onto someone else who would sell them when they left him because trust me, they would leave him... So...

Lola... This may work, if he shows he really wants them to keep forever, as they were his Mother's this may work....

Thanks all. Appreciated very much...

@ossobuco,
I'm curious, though. I know every one of them from either here or Abuzz. Doesn't look like we will be getting an answer anytime soon.
