Re the European paintings, I recommend that you put in your time here. They have some amazing Rembrandts and a great impressionist collection. (My personal taste.) Whatever you see, you can't go wrong.

Well, the Calgarians are gone. We had SUCH a good time freezing in the rain all day yesterday. Yes, you can go into a bar in Little Italy at 2PM and order tea. (warm-up!!!) then walk around Dean and Deluca or UniGlo until you dry out... then to another bar (one with no name on Houston) have some wine and laughs and more laughs.
THEN
~~BB Kings to see Small Change doing their Tribute to Tom Waits. Incredible musicians, great arrangements and completely unintelligible lyric~~just like Tom.
We broke several of the laws against dancing in bars. I learned how to dance with two fabulous babes at the same time, a skill that I am now adding to my resume.

New York City Meet-up Alert:
Sunday Morning at Pain Quotidien 88th and Lexington 10:30AM...
I liked Le Pain Quotidien, went to the one at 84th and Madison twice (or was it three times). Don't remember what I ate, but remember the Cafe au Lait. Have fun, all.

@Eva,

You know, the one who surprised me the most was Frank Apisa. I always thought he'd be a little wimpy guy, but he's actually about 6'2", 230 lbs., and he obviously lifts weights. Kinda frightening, actually.
The photo doesn't do him justice.
I luv ya, Eva!
Wow...what a crew. Just came across this. I don't remember everything...but I'm pretty sure this picture was taken BEFORE the incident, right?

@Mame,
These are wonderful. This was the best week of visitors the city has ever seen.
Who's that cute girl who kept hanging around with us, Mame?
(reminder to self....pull your stomach in, you dope!)

I want to thank you people for this thread and the beautiful pictures. New York is one of my favorite places to visit if I haven't been there since my son was a toddler.

This is my favorite.
It was near the end of a long afternoon of dodging raindrops and having umbrellas turn inside out over and over. These ladies never lost their sense of humor, their depth of charm and I was honored to be in their presence.
