BBB finally is able to post again

damn!! he needs to move to a moister climate?

I think he needs to move to a place that is low in altitude and has a lot less dusty wind than where he is now, and a place that has good nearby hospitals.

Over the weekend of the 5th he started coming down with what was eventually determined to be bronchitis. Monday the 7th he couldn't breathe and drove himself to the doctor. The doctor immediately sent him to the ER after getting a look at him. They kept him there for 6 hours giving him breathing treatments, and antibiotics.

They sent him home but he had to go back immediately the next day and was there for a couple of days. He says there were at least 4 times when he couldn't get any air and he thought he was going to die.

He's been home and giving himself breathing treatments and steroids every two hours for about 6 days and as of yesterday is finally loosening up the stuff in his lungs so he can breathe better. His voice is a lot stronger and he is getting back his sense of humor. It only hurts when he makes himself laugh and ends up coughing.

Was at the hospital with mom (BBB) all night last night. They decided to keep her there for observation for a few days. For 10 days she's been diagnosed with everything from strep throat to bronchitis and pneumonia. Yesterday afternoon, on the 4th visit to the Urgent Care clinic they decided she doesn't have pneumonia. I told them about her history with blood clots in her lungs and it being first diagnosed as pneumonia 3 years ago so they sent her to the ER to be evaluated. Nothing showed up on any of the scans, labs or other tests. They don't know what is going on so they admitted her for observation because she is still so weak and in such pain.

This afternoon they are back to saying it is probably pneumonia. Her blood pressure also shot thru the roof while in the ER (highest was 201/105 and EKG was unchanged from one in August) so they have her heavily medicated for that and it has reduced the severe headaches she was having but she still has painful ribs when coughing and breathing. If things go as planned, they are going to discharge her tomorrow after she has an MRI of her head to check for signs of stroke and to evaluate for dementia/Alzheimer's.

It sure has been a tough couple of years.

has she had her pneumonia shots and boosters? I hope so. We need her around to keep us from cussin too much

So sorry to hear that BBB is going through another rough patch. I really hope that they'll track down the source of the problem and will be able to provide her with some treatment and relief from her pain.

I'm so sorry to hear about all this trouble for BBB and you too. I hope she gets good reports.

BBB is home now. Pleurisy as a complication of her pneumonia and strep throat.

Her doctor thinks her blood pressure will ease when her pain eases, as it has in the past. We're going to see her in the next 10 days to evaluate if mom needs to go back on her blood pressure meds or continue with them, just when needed, as we have been.

She also had the MRI of her head done and we got the results already. Am waiting to hear from her doctor an English translation of what all it says.

Mom is still coughing, though not quite as painfully, and still has her headache. Her blood pressure has lowered a bit, but still isn't in her normal range.

Basically, more bed rest and keep taking her meds.

My hoper is in high gear for BBB.

I've mannered to get well. I asked Butrflynet to recover my car because I think I'm getting strong enough to drive and get around again.

Glad to hear it. You are clearly a resilient, tough and enduring woman, but I'm sure it hasn't always felt that way given what you've gone through.
