According to this article at Forbes magazine, 60% of doctors are refusing to take new medicaid patients. It's because they only get paid a fraction of what insurers pay. Which says absolutely nothing about so-called Obamacare. Try to stay on topic, Miller, you loon.

Many physicians, today, will not take health insurance ( medicare, medicaid, private health insurance ) as any form of payment. They will take only cash.

that is not correct.

Most doctors and facilities in the U.S. will take patients who have insurance - they send the bills directly to the insurer and then dicker about what will be paid.

I said "many" you said "most", the two words are distinct with distinct meanings. I stand by my statement, that many Doctors will take only cash. You need to read the comments more carefully before entering the "attack mode"

@mysteryman,
So, what's the big deal? All my siblings and I worked for our own college education. My older brother became an attorney and was Administrative Judge in California. My younger brother became an Opthalmologist, was Mayor of his town, and also ran two terms for the California legislature. My sister was an RN.

Get a subscription to the NYTimes and also the New England Journal of Medicine. You can do your own research.

As far you not believing me, don't worry about it. I don't.

@Miller,
Well, I live in one of the most expensive counties in the US called Silicon Valley, and MediCare provides a search for doctors, and I found many providers in private practice who serves MediCare patients. Try it, my ZIP Code is 94087.

How many doctors are turning away MediCare patients?

WRONG Miller! YOU'RE the one making these uberhyperbolic statements and you refuse to support them. NOT the other way around. YOU'RE virtually claiming the end of western civilization and you can't cite any sources. YOU just repeat these same sentiments ad nauseum. Repetition isn't solid proof what you say is fact.

Everyone else? They're providing sources and more. Do you realize that your how irrational and fearmongery you sound?

Why don't they finance their education the way I did and the way so many others did, get a job and pay for it themselves?

How does this address CI's point? Skyrocketing tuitions make it hard to get a college degree, no matter how you pay for it.

That aside, it's much more affordable to pay for college after you have your degree, get a better-paying job because of this degree, and pay it out of your higher salary. It's more efficient on the learning side, too. Younger people are much better at learning things than older people, so it makes sense to get into college young and stay there until you graduate.

Good for you if this worked out well for you! But there's more than one way to do this. Your way isn't the only one, and it need not necessarily work for everyone else.

@Thomas,
Some people suffer from myopia; they believe their personal "accomplishments" can be the same for everybody else. They don't understand the struggles of current times when the Great Recession impacted most people's savings, while their salaries remained stagnant. They have no clue about the many young couples where both must work to make a living, and trying hard to send their children to college. This period in our economy is much different, because recovery will take much longer with the world recession's reduced demand for goods and services. Our generation had it pretty easy compared to today. When I was ready to graduate college, I had four job offers. In today's market, they're lucky if they receive one job offer, and many go without jobs.

People suffer from myopia, just because they think they are over-achievers when they're not. The economic environment matters, and even luck plays a part.

Now what?

Iran get's its nuclear weapons.

Unemployment climbs back up over 8%

The US credit rating drops again

I seriously consider moving to one of the three independent states being created in Honduras, as there is very little hope of a divorce between Red State America and Blue State America.

For a more likely prediction see Flashback by Dan Simmons.

@Finn dAbuzz,
I can see why Honduras would appeal to you.

Quote:
During its decade-long "dirty war" against suspected guerrilla sympathizers, the Honduran military kidnapped, tortured and killed dozens of people, confident that the armed forces' enduring grip on power meant that they would never be held responsible.

Now, for the first time, a civilian court has charged 14 military officers with those and other human rights violations in the 1980's. But the commander of the armed forces is openly defying the elected civilian President.

With the commander's backing, some of the indicted officers have gone into hiding, and it is not clear whether they will ever be brought to justice.

The struggle has preoccupied the 5.5 million people of this Central American country for months, and threatens to undo a delicate balance of power between the military and civilian authorities.

@mysteryman,
The problem with that is you don't get the brightest and the best taking degrees, you get those who can afford it. The main criteria for taking a degree should be academic ability not wealth.

Instead of being a meritocracy you end up with a bloated aristocracy.

You don't half talk a load of old bollocks Finn. Harry Shearer (voice of Mr. Burns and others) was on HIGNFY last night. He pointed out that Obama's policies are to the right of Nixon's.

Why don't you take comfort in the amount of British and American servicemen, along with countless of innocent civilians who will not die in a war to further Israeli imperialism?

Btw it's Iran gets its nuclear weapons, not Iran get's its nuclear weapons.

I don't normally point out such mistakes, but as you've been really snotty with FM, what's sauce for the goose and all that.

They already "blew" billions on Romney in the election; they'll prove they love throwing money around that the GOP helps them "keep" with lower taxes.

"...really snotty with FM..."

What are you talking about?

He wrote something I couldn't understand and I pointed it out.

He re-wrote it and was I was able to understand it.

I sympathize with him if he has something wrong with his fingers (something of which I was completely unaware until Osso pointed it out), but it doesn't make a mangled (no offensive pun intended) post comprehensible.

His comments are often worth comprehending, your's on the other hand...
