"Flawless" was a much better film than it was given credit for and I admired Robert De Niro for lending his talent to the movie. It's also one of Joel Schumacher's (an out gay director) best films (I still can't get over that he directed "Tigerland.")
Hoffman almost stole "Magnolia," but there were a lot of powerful performances in that film so that was not really possible
Oops. That's Jamie FOXX. 2 X's. Like Redd Foxx.
I watched "Body Heat" on DVD, probably for the 4th or 5th time. I love the mood that it creates. John Barry's music is perfect, and sets the tone of the film.
Mood. I like the remake of "The Thomas Crown Affair" with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo for it's mood. The look of it. The keen sophistication. I have it on dvd and yep, I've watched it several times.
One of my favorite comedies of all time is "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World!" It never grows old or fails to give belly laughs.
I'm also a big fan of the oldies like Laurel and Hardy, Our Gang, Charlie Chaplin, Abbott and Costello, Three Stooges, etc... I wish they'd show them on basic TV again.

I have the jazz score theme from the movie on a jazz at the movies CD and play it in the car quite often. That same CD also has the song from "Baghdad Cafe" and that's a great independent movie that I can watch once every few years. Jack Palance is just a hoot.
Reyn, Mr. Wizard knows how I love Mad,Mad,Mad,Mad World.
favorite line:
"...we fell into yellow...."
Having seen it in its original Cinerama, which was actually the first Super Panavision movie, it was and still is a lot of fun as a comedy extravaganza.
The quiet man
Casablanca
Twelve angry men
High noon
Shane
It happened one night
Charade
North by Northwest
Rio bravo
The abyss

My best friends wedding

A great variety of movies there, bobsmyhawk. One of them is on the list of ten best movies every made in the Sight and Sound poll of prominant film critics, "Singin' in the Rain" (which, incidentally, bumped "The Searchers.")
Singing in the rain is worth seeing if there were only Donald O'Connor doing his Make em laugh routine.
That has to be the single most astonishing solo dance sequence in film history.
Good list. I would add;
Pandora's Box
Sunrise
Wuthering Heights
The best Years of Our Lives
The Sundowners
High Noon
Shane
The Wind and the Lion
Walkabout
Rashomon
A list I would expect from you, george. "Sunrise" should be a must see for anyone who hasn't seen it and especially for the cinematic innovation in its imagery. In its' time, it's as incredible as "Metropolis."
Thanks. Pandora's Box, with Loiuse Brooks, is also a memorable piece from that era - though it was made in Germany. I agree with you about Sunrise - unforgettable.
I'd easily recommend seeing "Pandora's Box" as well to anyone interested in film history and just plain experiencing a great film. It's in line for restoration by the same people who gave us the new DVD of "Metropolis."
All of the Harry Potter series, 1 and 3 more than two. I keep finding new things in 3, like re-reading a good book.
Suprisingly, Clueless is very re-watchable.
and "The Princess Bride" I've seen that a gazillion times and I still like to watch it.
Under the Tuscan Sun
When Harry Met Sally
Happy Gilmore
Caddyshack
most Fred Astaire movies
Princess Bride
River Runs Through It
Welcome to A2K and the film forum, dandingnancy. Just saw "The Princess Bride" on hi-def and realized how incredible the cinematography was on that film. Great story, too. Mandy Pantinkin rules!
Movies that prevent you from changing the channel?
Silverado (Today, my jurisdiction ends here)
Hunt for Red October
Princess Bride (Inconceivable)
Star Trek IV (nuclear wessels)
Great Escape
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Emperor's New Groove (that's a pretty crucial conjunction)
Beverly Hills Cop
Robin Hood, Men in Tights (It's good to be king)
And the kid's current incessant fav that I don't mind a bit? Ice Age
