@roger,
I thought the black madonna painting was the big deal.
Always something. How do you communicate with people who don't know the difference between a rat and a young, belligerant otter. They just otter know better.
They've just never seen you guys at play in the water. More's their loss. Otters have totally fascinated me ever since the first time I saw a buch of them frolicking. Fan-friggin'-tastic.

The zoo in Columbus, Ohio, is largely based around the North American exhibit. There's a "stream" which rings the exhibit, and it has otters. There are also machines which, for a quarter, will dispense a small handful of "otter pellets." The otter will run up, look at you, and then dive in the water, roll over and over underwater, leap out of the water, slide down the bank, and otherwise quickly perform. Then he or she will run up to the "otter pellet" machine, look at it, look at you, and nod his or her head. If you fail to respond, he or she will run down the fence to the next group of quarter possessing humans who are coming along. They don't have a lot of time for idiots or skinflints.
