@Linkat,
Part of it is that to have serum available, they have to guess which types are most likely to show up. It is not an elegant method - they hit and they miss.

@bobsal u1553115,
Last year I had a flu shot in Feb/Mar, two Shingles, two jabs, and a flu shot in Nov... this year I had two boosters. I'm done for now. My fully immunized friend is just recovering from her second bout with Covid. I feel boosters are kind of pointless now, esp since I don't go anywhere there are crowds. She thinks she got her latest at an Elton John concert.

but slipped on the flu shot, I like to wait until Nov to get it

You might want to look into how the flu season is shaping up. There are some signs that it could hit early this year.

@oralloy,
I think I'm seeing that, too. Going to Arizona tomorrow, a dangerous place for flu. I'm seriously thinking of going to VA in Phoenix.

@Mame,
We mask and we get all the shots. I've been fighting cancer for eight years, I'm willing to err on the side of belts and suspenders.

@tsarstepan,
Got my Flu shot this Monday.
Good News: Flu Shots Should Work Well This Year
Quote:
Different strains of influenza circulate from year to year, which means making the annual flu shot is always a bit of a gamble. Twice a year, the World Health Organization consults experts from around the world to help inform its recommendations about which strains should be targeted by the shots used in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Experts' predictions aren’t always perfect, which is why flu shot efficacy varies depending on the season.

Preliminary data published by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggests this year’s gamble may pay off. Flu shots used during the beginning of the Southern Hemisphere’s flu season—spring and summer in the Northern Hemisphere—did a good job of keeping people out of the hospital, which suggests the same may be true during the U.S.’s looming fall and winter flu season.

Probably not, I don't think I qualify for one right now.

I'm too young for another Covid booster so the same is probably true of flu.

@tsarstepan,
Been there, done that. Flu and Covid booster on the same day. RP just got the Covid booster as he'll get a flu shot through work. Now I need to see if CVS will start to have RSV vaccines (they didn't have them when we went. Otherwise, I would've gone for the hat trick).

Covid as soon as possible, maybe next week. I try to wait till November to get my flu shot. If it seems like there's a lot of flu cases, I'll get it earlier.

@tsarstepan,
I got vaccinated for flu and covid back in October. Reports are that vaccination rates are lower than in past years.
