@hingehead,
I don't suppose you would consider the possibility, or even the probability, that Mr Akin had been informed of what he said by a woman. Or more than one. I think Prof Greer will know what he meant despite his unfortunate choice of euphemism.

@spendius,
And I know why you are in favour of protecting the pill.

In a non-denial, John Cornyn indicates that the NRSC tried to help Todd Akin get elected.

@JPB,

Quote:
Cornyn also defended his decision to cut off NRSC support from Akin after the rape comment. The committee was prepared to dump as much as $5 million into Missouri to defeat vulnerable Democratic incumbent Claire McCaskill.
But once Akin’s comment became a big political problem — for Akin and other Senate Republican candidates — Cornyn and McConnell tried to force Akin to drop out. When that failed, Cornyn pledged not to spend money on the race, although the Texas Republican may have gone back on that pledge in the closing days of the campaign as the scale of potential GOP losses sank in.
Cornyn refused to say whether the NRSC quietly transferred money to the Missouri Republican Party in a last-ditch attempt to prop up Akin, only saying, “We needed to do what we needed to do to help win Senate seats.”
