You gotta figure that team obama is begging for early voting because their polling data shows that their campaign is headed south....

I heard a hysterical news report today that said in the latest poll, Romney has erased his deficit with womena and Obama has countered by erasing his deficit with men, as if twenty years of gender gap will disappear over night.

As usual, your analysis is flat wrong.

Any campaign would be smart to push their supporters to vote early, although it is especially effective when you are ahead in the polls.

The more early voters you have, then the fewer people you need to worry about getting to the polls on election day. The fewer doors you need to knock on. You can target your election day efforts on those that have not voted.

I don't think it will make sense on a visceral level to the FOX voter. He was not convicted of anything simple and they expect him to lie about money, he will not be perceived as being dishonest over this, I fear.

Mitt Romney implicated in perjury and stock fraud, made millions in process

Quote:
Mitt Romney has been implicated in a complex case involving perjury, stock manipulation, and possibly consumer fraud.

Mitt Romney lied in the divorce proceedings of his wealthy friend, Tom Stemberg, founder of Staples, according to a story by radaronline.com. At least that is what Stemberg's former wife, Maureen, says. She is a MS patient who says her husband was so vindictive he even cut off her health insurance. Unfortunately the records for this case have been sealed, and participants are unable to discuss them. Other forces are in motion to lift the gag order.

It is a matter of public record that Mitt Romney went on the stand claiming that Staples as a business was "overvalued." He also specifically said:

Romney has resorted to scare stories in OH about Jeep moving production facilities to China due to Obama policies.

Jeep was forced to respond today on it's blog -

http://blog.chryslerllc.com/blog.do?id=1932&p=entry

Quote:
Despite clear and accurate reporting, the take has given birth to a number of stories making readers believe that Chrysler plans to shift all Jeep production to China from North America, and therefore idle assembly lines and U.S. workforce. It is a leap that would be difficult even for professional circus acrobats.

---

Let’s set the record straight: Jeep has no intention of shifting production of its Jeep models out of North America to China. It’s simply reviewing the opportunities to return Jeep output to China for the world’s largest auto market. U.S. Jeep assembly lines will continue to stay in operation. A careful and unbiased reading of the Bloomberg take would have saved unnecessary fantasies and extravagant comments.

That's some pathetic **** there on Romney's part

Detroit paper thanks Obama for auto bailout, endorses Romney

... according to data on the 100 largest U.S. newspapers compiled by the University of California-Santa Barbara’s American Presidency Project, Romney enjoys a slight lead in swing-state endorsements ...

@H2O MAN,

That editorial was actually an interesting read. The newspaper is proudly conservative yet shows why some conservatives in the old rust belt might be thinking about Obama this year.
Quote:

Thank Obama for auto rescue
Don't assume that it was a no-brainer for a conservative newspaper to endorse a conservative presidential candidate. We recognize and are grateful for the extraordinary contribution President Obama made to Michigan in leading the rescue of General Motors and Chrysler. Had either of those companies been allowed to go under, Michigan's economic maladies would have become fatal.

The president stepped up with the support the two automakers needed to keep themselves and their suppliers in business. We have said in past editorials that while Romney rightly advocated for structured bankruptcies in his infamous "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt" New York Times op-ed, he was wrong in suggesting the automakers could have found operating capital in the private markets. In that article, Romney suggested government-backed loans to keep the companies afloat post bankruptcy. But what GM and Chrysler needed were bridge loans to get them through the process, and the private credit markets were unwilling to provide them. Obama put a rescue team to work and they were true to the task.

We have criticized Obama in past editorials for rewriting bankruptcy law on the fly to hold harmless his supporters in the United Auto Workers union. Still, Michigan is better off today because of Obama's leadership on this issue.

Had Obama done as well with the rest of the economy, it would be hard to deny him a second term.

Because Obama did such a terrible job with the economy
it will be easy to deny him a second term and hire Romney

Virginia and Colorado now look like they will go for Romney.

Quote:
Given all the available information – Romney’s lead among independents, the outlier nature of the 2008 turnout model, the elections held since 2008, the party ID surveys, the voter registration, early voting and absentee ballot data – I have to conclude that there is no remaining path at this late date for Obama to win the national popular vote. He is toast.

Mitt Romney will be the 45th President of the United States.

I guess if you whistle past the graveyard and ignore the state by state polling then gosh, you could make that argument. Meanwhile the professional pollsters and the gamblers on intrade say the opposite.

State polls, even at the peak of Romney's post-debate bounce, didn't show Romney in the lead in enough places to win. At no point has he shown a consistent lead in any of the northern swing states, and he can't win without him. So, every single day that Romney isn't catching up in those states makes it that much more likely that Obama is going to win this thing, thanks to early voting - and reports of early voting in places like OH, NV and VA have been very favorable to the president.

@Cycloptichorn,
There is evidence that someone (i.e. one user) was spending tens of thousands of dollars to manipulate Intrade in favor of Romney. I am not sure that this is worth it, but since the Intrade number is widely reported as somehow important, I guess someone thinks it matter enough spend thousands on it.

It seems like this behavior has stopped, and the prices are now returning to somewhat normal.

@farmerman,
This is funny.
You are saying that Obama is having to fix the economy, because Bush messed it up.
And if Obama wins re-election, who will he inherit the bad economy from then?

But, why are you using a double standard?
So many people, including you, are blaming sun for the economic mess, and maybe that's true, but you are willing to give Obama credit for something that Bush did and that Obama had nothing to do with.
So, why is the economy Bush's fault, but getting us out of Iraq is not his accomplishment?
Obama had absolutely nothing to do with the US pulling out of Iraq, and he actually tried to change the terms of the agreement.
The status of forces agreement was. Negotiated by Bush, and Obama just happened to be president when it went into effect.
