He's got a strong team ... a lot of former Ticomaniacs on his side (most of whom I'd like to have back ...
except for Reynolds).
@Ticomaya,
Ryan Reynolds plays baseball?
Is he shirtless?
Please tell me he's shirtless.
@jespah,
his stomach looks painful.
what are all those bumps...?
only two more days until the free agents are available. I am going crazy waiting...
The "Look Ma, no catcher" strategy worked just fine for Pantalones for a couple of years. He never made the playoffs.
@fbaezer,
the mariner moose will give Jesus at least 5 tries to be that guy...
I went long stretches with no second catcher last time.
it worked out ok.
@fbaezer,
I tried to limit the number of old guys on my team this time.
I hope for your sake Doc gets his heater back...
I got flummoxed about how fast the draft went (well, except for my turn) since it's been a while for me to attend it and so I while I was busy selecting who was still available that I had kept on my list re batters almost all of my favorite SPs flew on by. Then towards the end of the draft, my imac did its crashing number - that happens fairly often when have sports websites on, something to do with incompatibility of mac and flash. So, now I know what happens when I get the warning sign: you are disconnected to the draft. It took me something like five minutes to get back in. It kept going with my queue, even taking the one I had added as a playful afterthought, Brandon Allen, that I would have rethought if I had been watching.
So I was disappointed, bummer. On further review, I rather like the sand dogs, though I'll replace a couple of them. I think I'll keep Allen for a short bit. He has potential to be good, and potential to be way out of control for the foreseeable future.
Next year I'll fill in the queue beforehand, duh.
@jespah,
I did the live draft last evening, without doing much research. Usually I invite the players over for a cook out. I may delay that this year as I look at my roster.
Meanwhile, over on the Yahoo NCAA basketball thing, I am 48,359th out of some 3.7M players. I am in the 98th percentile. I think I beat Obama. Santorum beat us both, reportedly, in gun shooting and bowling.
@realjohnboy,
free agent season has opened.
I got my players and am gonna head for bed. Y'all can go ahead and get yours now.
good luck, and may the best pitching staff win...
@Ticomaya,
We just got tix to see KC vs. the Red Sox on 8/26 (a 50th bday present for me).
YAY!
@jespah,
cool.
hope you enjoy watching my royals win...
after further review, I think mebbe we need to change our team name to the padres.
we have Jesus, an Angel, and Salvador.
and a Francisco for good measure...

YAY!
I'm going to watch the Rockies play the Sox tomorrow. Should be a beautiful day here in paradise.
50?!!!
@Ticomaya,
Yep, I am turnin' 50 in Septembah.
Meanwhile ... Game On! We have baseball in Toyko!!! (This seems entirely strange ... the first game of the season is in the books [Seattle beat Oakland 3-1], and in about 6 hours I'm going to a Spring Training game here in Scottsdale ...)
The Squirrels/Padres are now in the lead in my matchup, after a tremendous first game by their Utility/Soon-to-be-Catcher guy, who went 0'fer, and in the process managed to earn a point for the bad guys just for walking up to the plate.
... and in what may be a recurring story, George leads the league in saves.
@Ticomaya,
How weird to wake up to a game already played.
@jespah,
Puppy Ackley -- 2 fer 4 with a dinger, 2 ribs, and 2 runs scored...
good dawg
!
@jespah,
gives a new meaning to night games.
I can't stay up that late on a school night...
