@Flexicon,
Obvious?

1. Different dates on the calendar.
2. Different continents.
3. Different languages.
4. Different societies.
5. Different clothing styles.
6. Different forms of transportation.
7. Different forms of government.

I'll let you add on your own to the list.

Who is considered a citizen and who has the rights to vote and hold property;
Writing on scrolls and tablets Vs computers and electronic tablets;
The ability to travel hundreds of miles in under a single days time;

@tsarstepan,
Maybe. Still, modern, mechanized armies don't move significantly faster that Rome's legions.

@OmSigDAVID,
The culture of Rome had a profound and lasting influence on the development of language, religion, architecture, philosophy, law, and forms of government in the territory it governed, including parts Europe. As Europeans settled in what is now USA the influence from ancient Rome must be there.
So find out where it differ in these areas.

really, the question is ancient rome and modern america

The Periods of Ancient Rome
Roman Kingdom
753 BC – 509 BC = 244 years
Roman Republic \
508 BC – 27 BC = 481 years - 2205 years
Roman Empire /
27 BC – AD 1453 = 1480 years

Modern America
Jamestown 1607 to present day = 404 years

on the whole ancient rome has about 5 times the history of modern america, 2 0f the three periods of ancient rome existed longer than modern america, even if you go back to 1492 the roman empire has about 400 years on modern america

@Flexicon,
You might wish to look into the aspect that a large percent of the US foundering fathers greatly respect the early Roman Republic and some of our government institutions that they set up reflected that fact.

Women have significantly different roles now. Roman matrons often did not go out without an escort.

@djjd62,
In modern America,
history goes back b4 the advent of Rome
in Europe n in Asia; that history INCLUDES that of ancient Rome.

In this very thread, the point has been made
that a lot of what we have comes from Roman Civilization.
We also have influences from elsewhere, at other times.
