now carry on....

Oh... are there any real words you use regularly that no one believes is an actual word?

@tsarstepan,
Probably there are, but I can't think of any at the moment.

Meantime, I prefer to spontaneously make up unreal words.

@tsarstepan,
I do know - I use it often, but haven't been a commenter on it myself.

@tsarstepan,
I crate craft create new words all the time and at times make a substitution word. Just the other day I used the word origami in place of or instead of original. It seemed time at the right. http://able2know.org/topic/179666-1#post-4782899 "Many's the time when a poster would like to then alter there origami post to make..."

I also occasionally mix words in the wrong order. A lingering after effect and a reason why I should use the Preview biter more often.

For the hamantaschen and all the chocolate you can afford to buy me, I have used the word thusly a few times (even though my spellchecky thingamablob doesn't acknowledge it).

New words are created all the time and why not? It's how the world grows.

@tsarstepan,
My mother used "thusly" many times. She also said "goodly". My preteen son had a meltdown one day about the way I spoke, saying "Goodly isn't even a WORD!!!!". Of course, I showed him the dictionary and explained "badly" was also a legitimate word. It only pissed him off more.

@orrisn,
I don't know where I picked up the word and when I write, "thus" doesn't seem to fit as nicely or sound right as thusly.

BTW: Welcome to a2k Orrisn. Thanks for the funny anecdote.

@msolga,
I have just discovered that "muchly" is a real word! Surprised

As in :" Thank you, muchly!"

or:

Quote:
"This is a muchly interesting conversation."

"Yesh indeedio."

@OmSigDAVID,
Someone decided to pull a critic on my use of thusly on another thread (leave that person nameless and self shamed with this thread Evil or Very Mad). They doubt should be assuaged with this thread.

@msolga,
If it's in the Urban Dictionary then it's gotta be real! Thanks for the introduction dear Olga. I like the sound of muchly indeed!

I dunno who that is, but he sounds like an under-educated person.

For the record:
I have rather frequent recourse to that word,
when citing to respected authority.

Why add ly to an adverb,it seems uncalled for? However, if thus sounds too old fashioned, perhaps adding the ly helps the modern ear.

@dodge,
Didn't expect this lowly thread would catch the eye of passerby. I wondered how you stumbled onto this topic.... Well anyway, welcome to a2k.
