@reasoning logic,
No, Not from your perspective, It actually backs up what Izzy said, That all religious do not seem to have hidden agenda's as you "think" the American based churches do things...

From what Rowan has said there, it seems as though he seems to be a nice guy...

So, I would believe what Izzy said about him, that he is interested in fixing a problem with the money situations...This in fact, backs up, that there are good reputable, generous, genuine, religious out there, who are about helping people...

Not all of them, are about filling their pockets....

And it is even more confusing to me...

Because, it does not seem like what this man says, is scurrilous or distasteful like Spendius has said...

So unless, there was something in that newsletter thing that Izzy has posted...

I still do not understand what Spendius thinks is so distasteful about it....Or him...

And Spendius, has not answered it yet...Only decided to take a cheap shot at me....

What an indeed very nice thing to say to me! How very Deep down Christian Of you, to do so! Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Some of us, sometimes wonder, why you pose an an intellect of both sides of the equation, and think you are being an honest person to yourself, and others?? And whether you are backing Christianity, or atheism, at the present moment??

So, sorry to you, If it gets confusing, and I am asking you a genuine question, which you did not answer anyways, and my thinking is not up to your standard, of playing both cards... 2 Cents

Thanks for going back and forth with me about the votes going up and down!!

I know who you are! and you have incriminated yourself!! Since you took it upon yourself to purposely vote all my posts down...

I am sure, you can understand, why Yours was done so in return!!! Wink Wink Wink Wink Very Happy Very Happy Mr. Green 2 Cents

It does not offend me, if you want to vote me down...As it is an option I despise, but it is one, none the less...

If you are going to purposely do it, and not explain to me why...

That bothers me...

So if you think it is a cool thing to do...I have no problem doing the same in return!!

@XXSpadeMasterXX,
Hi Spades Smile

I always think that why let anything bother you? You are who you are, and the more you comment, the more it shall be done Smile

I also don't think it matters what one believes... As long as they believe.....

We can't save the world, we can only try....

Have you ever volunteered to help people? I think I have asked this not sure.. It's a great thing, I did for Service to Youth (street kids) and rallied on TV many moons ago but it was a great feeling....

I know you have time on your hands it would be great if you were to get involved in something like that.

@FOUND SOUL,
Hi, found! Yes, I have volunteered, and have done work for soup kitchens...And pick up garbage on the streets...

I plan on, soon, to volunteer for a Church, around here....

BTW... I agree with you on almost all of what you said....

It is just, when people act childish, and immature...I have a hard time, sometimes, just brushing it off...I do not know why...

I think, it is because if they are an intellect, it is absolutely not necessary at all...

And it offends me, they believe that that is acting like an adult, or has a purpose to it...Maybe my thinking goes way over their heads on that one, I am not sure...

Maybe I am just not that good at brushing it off...Because stuff that is just too stupid to me, I have no patience for...

And it seems to only grab their attention, when you call them out upon it...Somehow, Someway....I do not know why this is the case with most people...

Why they feel it is OK, but as soon as it is reversed, they realize, or stop doing it...

Can you think of any better solutions to try to just let it go? I am interested in hearing them?

I am still learning on here, as to how to approach people...and I think I am slowly getting better...

Thanks for the kind words!! Always love what you have to say! and You are refreshing! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Cool

Thank You!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Wink Cool

The garbage is cool too! Because if no one did it, it would never get done...I just wish more people would get together and be willing to do it...Or stop throwing it out their windows...

It is not an easy thing, to pick up another's garbage, and throw it out! Wink Wink Very Happy Razz Mr. Green 2 Cents

And I feel great, when I have done it...No matter how small it may seem to the amount there is...

@XXSpadeMasterXX,
You added to that post lols.

You know Spades? Patience is a vertue how ever you spell it, see how I have faults? We all do.. But it is important.

I always think read. If you can pick one thing out of what someone said and be able to use it in your life? Then it was worth listening to.

I think that regardless, these guys are offering that "one word" many a time, only if we are on a road that we don't want to deviate from, sometimes we don't listen instead we accuse and I think that's the key.

To how you handle it.

@XXSpadeMasterXX,
I don't think that's cool.. I think our lives are about helping.. I understand that collecting garbage is helpful but you should be paid for it.

I think if you are going to do something that is worth "something" then it better be something , worthwhile.

Yesterday, for instance, I was standing at my house and heard people yelling. I looked over at the wetlands and this guy was dragging a dog.. I saw the woman stand there and stare. At first I thought that there was another dog, a small one and the big dog had gotten it. When I saw her run so did I to offer to pick it up and take it to the vet. Instead, I saw the big dog not moving, laying and this guy trying to drag it. Turned out the dog, yelped and then couldn't move its leg. I suggested maybe a spider or an inch ant bit it, they sting. Or if not, he dislocated his leg, "don't drag him".

Cutting a long story short. The dog was not theirs it was their friends, they had only just arrived from England the day before and was walking her.. She, the woman ran to get the son, to take the dog to the vet.

When the son arrived, he tried to pick the dog up, the dog showed its teeth.. At that point I suggested that he not do that. There was a hill to climb to get the dog into a car to get to that vet.

If they could not pick it up how the?

So, I stood in front of the dog... Told it to lay down I could see it was going into panic... Patted it.. When I saw that it had calmed I stood in front backwards and said "come on" and guided it.. With three legs and one break to stop it made it up the hill and into the car.

So what I am saying is volunteer for something you love, for me it's animals and if those people had dragged it, picked it up, the dog would be more damaged or the people would have been bitten.. In shock people don't know what to do.

Go volunteer for animals or kids, or something worth while not garbage Smile Hense the lengthy story.

@FOUND SOUL,
Fair enough, and I will try to do that as much as I can...

But to me, there are many posts in which, there is not that one word...

For instance, I do not see any one word in Spendius post, about me not understanding much of anything anyone ever has to say...Do you??

Is it, that I do not listen?

I agree, if he had said it that way...

Is it, that I am not that smart...

I disagree, and there is no one word in there, that I missed...

What is that one word I missed?

I understand, and that is why I do soup kitchens, and will be at a church soon...

But to me, persevering the Earth, is worthwhile...

Whether it is humans and animals, or inanimate things...

I really am limited in some ways, because I do not drive...So sometimes, the only way I can apply myself, is such things as picking up trash, that others are not willing to do...

And I personally, am not concerned with money, never had it, never really cared for it...Not even that responsible when I do have some...

If I got paid to do it, it would destroy the fact of generosity for doing it out of the goodness of my heart...

It would be the same thing, to say, rather than talking to kids, you did it because you were paid...

You know, or I think you feel this way...It would automatically not be the same, and lose it luster, right?

@XXSpadeMasterXX,
Rowan Williams is also a bit of a figure of fun, the Viz article I pasted was a joke. He doesn't really write for Viz, or solve mysteries for that matter either.

Despite what one may or may not believe, Rowan Williams is a decent human being, unlike a lot of church leaders.

I think picking up garbage and manning the soup kitchens might bring joy but it probably depends on the locations and nature of the garbage and the hungry.

He is leaving his post for a nice job at Cambridge. The favourite to replace him put out a statement yesterday regarding an epidemic of promiscuity, separation and divorce.

Your reply

That's a very sweeping statement RL. Are you sure you're not basing it purely on your own experience of the huge money making evangelical churches that are so prevalent in America?

I am basing it on my perception of what I see and hear from others around the world. I did not say that all churches were that way but rather "most" churches seem to behave that way. I am not saying that the churches are in it to make money but what I am saying is that many people who have a lot money, have no problem using religion in there arguments for promoting a sociopathic type of society and I have not heard many preachers speaking out against such practices in my life time.

You seem to agree in your quote below that many religious leaders do not share Rowan Williams characteristics of decency.

@reasoning logic,
I have nothing but contempt for the Evangelical preachers who dominate the airways trying to get money. The same goes for right-wing Christians. Jesus preached a Socialist message, camels and eyes of needles.

A sociopathic type of society is a subjective view of mine that I come to when I analyze our society. We all see things from different points of view. A cannibal may think that being a cannibal is completely normal just as a slave master may think the same.

What slave master would want to hear how it is immoral for him to have thousands of acres that slavery has allowed him to posses? or what slave master would want to hear how it would be moral for him to free his slaves?

If any of what I have questioned may hold some sort of truth, then what would be the likely hood of you being willing and unbiased when confronting your own immorality?

I have shared an article with you about rankism that you did not find value in but it does speak rather clearly about what is going on. We have a hierarchy "pecking order" system just as other animals do, but just because we are animals and all other animals do it, does not mean that it is the most prosperous way of doing things for mankind.

I know that we need to have structure and order but are you certain that our currently promoted social structure is best for mankind?
