Dan Savage didn't go far enough. He's saying his comments weren't an attack on Christianity, just an attack on those who justify anti-gay actions based on the Bible. Sorry, Dan. You should take a stronger stance. Rip the Bible apart on stage and tell people to join the 21st Century! (OMG! I used a calendar based on when Jesus was born! I must be a closet Christian!) Cool

@farmerman,
I know a lot of people don't get football, a lot of people don't get Shakespeare. Football involves skill, not brute force, it's like ballet the way it moves backward and forward. American minority sports are incredibly dull, I can't be bothered watching any of those.

What the **** is Nascar?

@izzythepush,
It's a ceremonial celebration of the WASP machismo. The possibility of humiliation is within the confines of the zero asymptote.

NASCAR is incredibly overpowered automobiles that drive interminably around a very large ring at faster ad faster speeds until someone dies or is maimed for life.

Its a dystopian society"s form of entertainment that should have been instituted after the apocalypse when only Hillbillies are left.

To be beneficial to other people does not require the belief in a God.

No, You don't have to believe in a supernatural God, To misspell the word Prophet, With Profit....

@farmerman,
I see you're stuck in the seventies. Nobody was asking you to watch football. This is just sour grapes, because try as you might to Americanise the wholewworld nobody wants to know. American sports are like American chocolate, not worth bothering with.

@izzythepush,
All of them?? I like a lot of American sports, and am a huge sports nut...Never got into the soccer thing....I think it has a lot to do with the fact that Americans suck at Soccer....But are good at almost every other sport!....But I do certainly understand how it is the worlds most popular....

The closest I get to playing soccer is playing footbag with my friends in the summer....

Only they allow fighting in Hockey which is bullshit.....It makes the game more fun maybe, But it is bullshit these dudes can fight like that on the ice, but if you did that outside the rink you would be in handcuffs....

Like Rugby, Cricket?

The only reason Americans are so good at Grid Iron, Ice Hockey and Baseball is because no other ****** plays them.

You guys wanna see skill?? Even though I would not like it...Because I like Hockey Goaltenders....

Make the net half that size, Take the Goalie out of the crease, Goalie out of the net in lacrosse, and Goalie out of the net in soccer and you will see a game of skill....

@izzythepush,
I think Americans would be good at Rugby, and Cricket if it was played around here...Rugby like football, and cricket like baseball...

Soccer unlike any other sport....It is a breed of it's own....

Please don't be mad at me Izzy, I like us being there for one another....I am just giving my 2 cents....Anyways Izzy, Hockey, is played all over...Sweden, Iceland, Canada, Russia etc....

And the same with baseball.....

All the South American, and Central American countries play them....Just like soccer....

Americans do not like soccer because even our stud players suck at an extensive competitive level....

I do not believe Americans would be bad at either Rugby or Cricket....

@XXSpadeMasterXX,
nobody really cares about soccer because its a game that even kids without any apparent athletic skills can play and exceed. I remember having my kid play soccer and the game, lasting an hour, ends in a fuckin TIE.

Im sorry games need
1A WINNER

2A LOSER

anything else is brocolli.

I supose that, if there were nothing else on tv to watch, I probably would watch a soccer match. I just wouldnt get all excited about it like I do with womens volleyball

typical of us, we have too many choices to numb our minds. We dont "Suck" we merely divert our really good athletes into many other more lucrative career choices. Soccer is for countries that arent big enough to support other sports. Even countries like Brazil have burgeoning sports industries in many other areas beside soccer. I think baseball has caught up and maybe even passed (WHY?) becasse we can quickly identify and identify WITH superstar baseball players. Tts easy to tell on screen
Ive watched soccer games and concluded"Whats the point?" Its like ice hockey with no ice and a half mile long

You're just talking about another type of skill. The top players are as skilled as it is possible to get. The goalie is not in the net to reduce skill. He is there to increase the excitement. He is allowed to use his hands within the prescribed area for the same reason.

If you removed him the game's tactics would soon evolve in another direction. I couldn't guess what that would be. It would emerge from the way pro-sportsmen and the administrators go about their business.

Would you lower the bar, widen the goals, make the ball heavier, change the number of players or any other original idea of the type only great minds can think up in order to point out where everybody has been going wrong all these years.

@spendius,
I am not saying they are going wrong....But as it stands With a Goalkeeper in any of those sports I listed, I feel it still is a bit of luck at times....

If you took the goalie out, and shrunk the net in half....Then you would have skill, because people could put the ball in from 30 meters out etc....And it would truly be a skillful shot...You would still have excitement because teams would score 15-20 goals in a game....And would not require as much luck to get it past a goalkeeper....But more skill putting it in the net from far distances....And keeping up with the other team...So then endurance is tested even more so....

If you wanted to make the ball heavier, lower the bar, change the number of players, etc....you could do it if you wanted too....

That's only true in those sports which have a cosy agreement to not have any promotion and relegation systems.

If you had $500 at, say, 8 to 1, at the start of the season on a team to be relegated and in the last match it needed one point to escape the drop, which costs many millions, and it was pounded from first to last with its goalie making a lot of miraculous saves and the woodwork coming to the rescue a few times, and got out with 0-0 and one point to save itself, I don't think you would say a thing like that.

If the team doing the pounding needed 3 points the win the title and was at home with 70,000 fanatics looking on and expecting an easy win as much as you are expecting to lose $4,500, I think you might need to rest in a quiet room for a stretch when it was over.

I presume you prefer the outdoor girl bursting with energy to the languid lady on the lounger. I hate those bikini shaped white patterns on the sunburnt bodies of outdoor girls.

Are you a Baywatch fan.
