@Fido,
Your assumption that we can "stop them" is not reality; that's been proven over 200 years.

Who will stop the GW Bush, Bachmann and the Palin's of this world?

We give those people their power... The forms of our religions, or governments, or economy, and our institutions of learning are all forms we fill up and make real with our faith... You are disabused of your faith in these institutions to work for you... When enough of us have become disenthralled by it all, and turn our backs on it, and begin working on new forms of relationship then a great number of idiots who have invested the forms with their lives will be wondering why their great deals are falling about their ears... For people like Palin and Bachman it is all about a paradigm that has no essential reality... By actually standing against it we make it more real than if we ignore it as the farce it is... We give it power... We make it real...

Why do you think the government builds great edifices and impediments of stone??? They want to demonstrate what is most false to be true, that they are eternal and immovable... Nothing could be further from the truth... It may be true that the temples and pyramids of Egypt still exist, but the world has moved on and left them behind... We should do the same with our government, and all failed forms...

Not wise considering that Canada welfare is tightly tied to the US.

We did try to annex Canada once by force in 1812 and the only thing that save them is we had **** poor generals by the names of Hull and Dearborn in charge of the invasion.

Come to think of we also had troops in Canada during the revolution war and in the peace treaty talks after the revolution war Franklin even suggested to English that it would be better for all concerns if England gave us Canada.

The tea party members learned quickly that it takes money to run.

@cicerone imposter,
Can't really complain about campaign donations seeing as how Obama had over $750 million in donations and McCain had half that. This year they are expecting Obama to break the 1 billion mark.

We should all turn our backs on it... Look at what happens if just a few republicans in government refuse to go along... And that has been their attitude to government since before Reagan, if they are not the government then they are free to abuse government and not cooperate... Abuse, serious affected abuse of presidents did not begin in our time with Son of Bush... Clinton was worthless, but also reviled and we who voted with him were too... Since then the government has been all about the democrates compromising with the republicans because the republicans have refused compromise as a method... 99% of the absue aimed at Mr. Obama has racism behind it, but rather than calling those people on it a fully addressing the issue as was not done in reconstruction, and not done in the 60s, so we see that all the gain made for equality and justice for the poor are about to be given back... We should turn our backs on such people... We should all resist paying taxes which only make the rich richer by allowing them to avoid their share... We are on a failing course, and should stop the ride rather than continue of the cliff of history... A non vote is a no vote, and for now the republican count on the discust of the people at the failures of government to keep them rooted in their chairs, or at their jobs if they have one, and afraid to express themselves in that feeble fashion... Majority rule as we have it from contrived and party managed district is not democracy at all... We have become a government of rotton bouroughs that continually hands the republicans what they want, and this would never have been possible if the democrats had done their duties... So resist... Do not go along... Drag your feet... Make a nuisance of yourself... Be an impediment to the republican rewrite of american history that leaves the facts out... If only a few of us decide to park on the highway the whole thing will scream in agony... Don't park... Drive the minimum speed... In everything, express yourself...

I used to drive to work past a republican's house out in the country about 5:30 in the morning... And I could tell he was a republican and a farmer, and suffering alike during democrat and republican government... So, I would lay on the horn... I am up and working for republicans, and you can get up too... Hold your neighbors responsible... If they elect assholes hold them accountable... Don't go along to get along... Tell them why you feel as you do and that if they will not work with the dems, then the dems should not work with them and we should start over after the next civil war.... Do they really have the numbers or just the guns??? It will not get better until it gets worse, and expecting better from the same old failed system is insanity... Destroy it... Do not give it yor consent by voting for it...

So does government, and the rich believe that if government cannot function then it cannot perform one of its vital functions in protecting the working class or the environment... They also cannot defend the country any more than a nest of yellow jackets can protect their nest from a cup of gasoline no matter how they sting... The military is the greatest excuse for taxation, and they find the money for that, but the greatest threat from our military is against the domestic population... The officer class would turn its guns on the people in a moment... Who do they protect... Whose rights do they stand for???

And he should... He has done everything for the rich... Economically he has followed the republican line better than any republican would have dared... What could he do, since the broke government he took over had no option left but the one the republicans have always championed, of hands off government while the people are dispossessed... Rick Perry is back talking about how the democrat approach in the 30s was a disaster... Was it, really??? We were well into the war before we had full employment, but before the war we had youths fit, fed, and regimented to group activity and hard work by the CCC and such... The disaster of the 30s is shown by the defeat of the axis which likely was a defeat for Perry and his sort... Just as in Germany, the government could manage the economy better than so many disjointed individuals, and get things done...

This is an option too that Mr. Obama has not had to resort to simply because there have already been social programs in place to protect the population from starvation and disease... So the rich give Mr. Obama money... He is theirs... He does not deserve to be re-elected... We did not get our change, and he has not worked hard for change... He has cooperated with the rich, and the sop he has thrown the poor aggravate the republicans to the extreme... Obama care was absolutely responsible since the cost of public medicine was already breaking the government, and would continue to... But he did not sell it...He did not make the case... He did not lay the facts out before the people and force them to decide, and in tearing down obama care the republicans will destroy our public health system for good...

Every time a government order it military troops to fire on it own people it need to hold it breathe as more then one government had fallen in history when the military had refused to carry out such orders.

The former USSR military refused to carry out such orders and as a result there is no more USSR.

The Chinese military did carry out such orders and the then government is still in power.

A lot of governments in history had hired foreign mercenaries to do internal policing to get around that problem and it sometimes work and sometime it does not.

See the current news in relationship to Libya where the foreign mercenaries did fight for their paymaster Gadhafi but with the help of NATO was overwhelmed anyway.

@Fido,
You fail to understand the government form of this country; the people still have the power to elect our government reps. That we seem to fail in that regards doesn't mean our democratic republic is a failure.

It is however sadly looking more and more that our democratic republic is starting to fail as the "art" of selling/propaganda had reached the point that a larger and larger percents of our total voting population can be talk into supporting programs that are against their and the society as a whole best interests.

Allowing a few hundreds super rich to take more and more of the real control of the nation for their short terms benefits.

It is you who fail to understand what is going on here... I don't like the religious right or the tea party, but I understand the frustration and the denial of dreams and needs that make such parties grow... Such frustration helped to put Mussolini, and hitler into power... The perversion of our democracy which they are turning to their own benefit and the nations laws is made possible by the failure of our so called democracy to protect any of the commonwealth or common people from the wealthy and their desire to dorrupt government everywhere...

They may be idiots, but they are inevitable idiots... The absolute best thing for this people and this society would be to make those clowns win, and force them to try to govern and to implement the harebrained ideas they call thought until they bring the government crashing down around them... They cannot succeed, but they can undermine the right more effectively than any attack by the bought and paid for democrat party... The answer to republican failure is not democrat failure, but failure more profound and unimaginable than this country has ever known, and that is what the tea party could bring... Let them try to own it all and see what they can do with it once they have denied themselves funds and then will deny the people bread... They will find they have been eating from the same trough as the poor, and that we are in this together...

Our government reps which were never fixed in number in the constitution were fixed in number by the parties in control of the house... Clearly it was not for want of room since they fill the place with many guests and the Senate for the State of the Union... Their excuse was to make the house more manageble, but where in the constitution is a government managed set as a goal of government... We have far less representation per person than our founding fathers, and less every day... The parties find they can divide our districts to give a few safe seat to the opposing party to keep many safe seats for themselves... The only danger in such districts is some one even more radical taking the office at the primary level... So you tell me Cis; how can it be that a safe district for one party actually makes democracy real for people who find themselves continually without representation of their choice??? I do not care what party, or what political beliefs a person holds to, because if a district is divided so should representation be divided... The want of ideas in DC is the result of too few heads on the chopping block... There are just as many people employed as there would be if all were representatives representing their thirty thousand citizens, but only a few are answerable to the people, and most are swaying and sucking up to the represntatives whose bag men they are... The rep may get a vote, but it is people behind the scenes who write the laws, and decide how they will be enforced... And, while the house is most democratic, the Senate and Supreme Court are not democratic in any sense of the word and were never intended as such... The senate are our house of lords, and they have great power... The Supreme Court still represents the established Ivy league law schools more than America... Together they are all enemies of the people and their collective power over us is far beyond our puny power to resist... Yet, it is in following such forms into greater failure that whole societies fail as ours is failing now... Capitalism has made a bid to own the world and they may struggle now to own all they have run into hock to leverage the rest... If Europe falls we have our chance for change... We should take it and if you are not too scared, you will seek change too...
