When the shootings came over the news I was too depressed to come back and post an update.

Why is that? Is it because the bomber is some right wing, moslem hating, fundamentalist Christian JUST LIKE YOU?

@oralloy,
The victims of the shootings were members of the Labour party like me. As Walter has pointed out previously, the murderer is quoted as having said,

'But today's Protestant church is a joke. Priests in jeans who march for Palestine and churches that look like the minimalist shopping centers.'

His rampant hatred of Palestinians sounds just like the sort of crap you've posted in the past.

Like this,

'The Palestinians are one of the most brutal and evil people in human history. '

Your fascist ideology, and inability to see the consequences of your racist diatribes leads to outrages like this. You should apologise to the parents of the children gunned down, because you've been justifying something like this all along.

@izzythepush,
Another one of Oralboy's racist diatribes.

'If I can go off topic for a moment, it is extremely noteworthy that the ONLY people on the entire planet who back the Palestinians, are scumbag freaks who support sending innocent people to prison.

More than anything else, that shows just how depraved the Palestinians are, and why no one should care about them. '

@izzythepush,

He said that? He would perhaps be surprised to learn that a sizeable section of Israeli society support the Palestinians in some form.
Not the terrorists, clearly. But the main thrust of Palestinian society.

And he should read "Palestine", by Joe Sacco.

He should read. It's amazing how quiet the far right posters have become over this. They dehumanise people by using terms like 'libtard,' and then act suprised when one of their fellow racists decides to translate those same words into deeds. Gungasnake is just as bad. All I did was cut and paste Oralboy's remarks. I've not yet worked out how to post the links, but if you don't want to take my word for it, his first comment is on the thread 'Obunga: Palestine must be based on 67 borders' (The racist description of the current president is Gungasnake's) The second post is from the thread 'Amanda Knox.'

If you have the stomach to look at his posts you will realise that the two quotations are very much in keeping with the rest of the filth he posts.

It is not ideology that drives such deeds, but depth of passion. That is why you cannot predict who will say it with mayhem, next time.

@edgarblythe,
People get passionate about such things by reading far right ideology. Finding that others share your viewpoint, justifies you holding it, and perhaps acting on it.

I do agree with you that most religious fundamentalists have no intention of carrying out such atrocities.

@izzythepush,
They become passionate in that way by being steeped in whatever cause they are pushing, to the exclusion of mitigating factors, whether oriented right or left.

Neil Gaiman summed up folks like the shooter in his novel American Gods

"There's never been a true war that wasn't fought between two sets of people who were certain they were in the right. The really dangerous people believe they are doing whatever they are doing solely and only because it is without question the right thing to do. And that is what makes them dangerous."

Any obsession is dangerous, To become obsessed with a single cause seems to lead to insanity.

(another way of expressing what edgar and djjd just said)

@wandeljw,
In that case don't go anywhere near George R R Martin's Song Of Fire And Ice series. It's got me acting pretty obsessively.

I was hoping I would like it, but it turns out that it's mostly just bad pornography.

I guess I'm not surprised, the writer is a total douchebag.

@Cycloptichorn,
I don't know a great deal about the writer's personal life/character. I did enjoy reading the series so far. I didn't think there was that much sex in it. The television series Game Of Thrones is another matter entirely, a lot of the sex scenes in that were gratuitous and unnecessary.
