Steelers/Texans. Heck of a game. So far, Texans lead and have possession in final few minutes.

Chiefs upset the Vikings. Houston did a good job of holding on for the win.

Yep. Lots of close ones. Texans intercept with ten seconds to go to win it. It was tough on me, as the Steelers are my first love in football, but I am strongly pushing the Texans this year.

Quite a comeback by Detroit. Now they need to hold 'em for another 1:39. COME ON, DETROIT!

An exciting finish in several games.
There is a lot of red ink on my scorecard after the 9 early games. Everyone but Wandeljw got hurt in the Philly loss to SF. Ms Cowdoc was the only player picking Cincy over Buff. Mysteryman, Region and Rhys correctly selected KC vs Minn.
No clear leader, though, here. JPB, Edgar, EhBeth, Ragman and Liontamerx are 6-3. And, oh yes, Cointoss/Cointoss is also 6-3.

@realjohnboy,
I cannot stop myself thinking that the Cowboys tossed it. 2 soft interceptions and a Hail Mary catch that Rio Ferdinand would have stopped without using his hands. A 3 score lead in our game is turned over once in a blue moon.

@spendius,
And 20 degrees hotter in Dallas than the Lions are used to and it's the Cowboys who wilt.

@realjohnboy,
Last week and this week (so far today) there've been a huge amount of close games. I'm not positive of how frequently this happens but last week all but 4 games were within 7 points of each other. So far today, there's only been 2 games greater than 7 points diff.

By my count, Edgar, EhBeth and Ragman are 11-3. Several other folks are 10-4. I can't begin to conjecture who might win week #4.
I think, though. we can rule out Fbaezer (6-8) and Rhys (7-7).
Rhys, by the way, may not be faring too well here. But in our A2K Fantasy Football game, he is totally kicking ass.

@realjohnboy,
Looks like he's going to win the Biggest Blowout Award for the third time
in four games. Let's see, who's he playing this week?

@George,
Someone will get lucky and play Rhys when Aaron Rodgers (QB-GB) is in a bye week. Until then the little twerp of yours will dominate Fantasy Land.
Rodgers is amazing.

@Ragman,
It is often remarked upon in pub conversations that the zeitgeist of modern television is developing in a manner which is intended to keep viewers on the edge of their seats and biting their nails when not munching from snack packages anxiously.

Whether the co-operation of sportsmen is required in unknown but there have been numerous instances in 35 frame snooker finals where one player had a 14--2 lead overnight which melted away the next day and produced an exciting finish for the viewers.

I think that this subtle process was contrived when a player leading 14--2 overnight proceeded to win the first four frames in the early afternoon of the last day and old American movies were needed to fill the gaping hole left in the TV schedule plus a number of other effects which were not considered conducive to the promotion of snooker.

An underdog clawing his way back from 2--14 to 17--17 and then losing the deciding frame on a respotted black is probably as close to perfection as can be managed.

@Ragman,
So is it a conspiracy or just parity/mediocrity of the NFL.

@Ragman,
It is very difficult to say. "Unusual betting patterns" ( in English that means bookies squealing) are thought to be significant evidence of play acting.

It is entirely possible that Mr Romo threw two passes to the Lion's defense because of injuries and that three Cowboys defenders couldn't stop the Hail Mary touchdown despite the ball being airborne for about 4 seconds which is a long time in our form of the game.

Parity is certainly a factor.

Basically it is the colour and the movement, being distracted from life's banalities and miseries, dressing up, being in a crowd, beer drinking, aggression catharsis, profits, conversation stimulation and general management of what is a fractious species of organism living in stressful conditions.

Somebody once said that Mexico used to have revolutions and now it has futbol.
