@realjohnboy,
with Rodgers in a baseball cap all day...
@ehBeth,
and another holey kamoley
That Flynn guy is not bad either..
Coin Toss and Johnboy were looking at 9-0 through the early games if Detroit had won. Sigh. We join Mis Cowdoc, Ragman, Tico, Mysteryman and Rhys at 8-1.
@Ragman,
RJB did you miss this? (I made these changes within 90 mins of the first posting.)
Ragman wrote:
OK..I need to change 3 of my picks:
Raiders over Chargers
Vikes over Bears
AZ Cards over She-hawks
Currently my count is 7-2. Perhaps you missed something? Or have I?
@Region Philbis,
Yikes. They can sure score a lot of points on doormats. Brady has a separated shoulder on his non-throwing side. Wonder if there'll be enough time to recover for the playoffs. Their defense really sucks. Spotting a team 3 TD in the first half sure does not build confidence.
@Ragman,
after the slow first quarter, the D clamped down and shut them out the rest of the way...
@Region Philbis,
Not wanting to be a nattering nabob of negativism, but I wonder how that D will hold up in the playoffs with a team that is decent, determined and has a Offense AND a Defense that fires on all cylinders?
@Ragman,
they will continue to give up big yardage, but hopefully continue to force turnovers.
and they will continue to have to be the superior offensive team...
WEEK #17
It was our 3rd best outing of the season as a group. We finished the week at .717 vs .729 in week #12 and .762 in #14.
Johnboy, Tico and McGentrix came in at 13-3. McGentrix nailed the Giants' point score of 31 while Johnboy predicted 30 and Tico said 34. McGentrix also won week #10.
A whole bunch of players went 12-4: Osso, Spendius, Edgar, EhBeth, Ragman, Liontamerx, AndyClubber, Cowdoc and Mis Cowdoc. At 11-5 were Rhys, Region, JPB, Mysteryman, Wandeljw and Coastalrat.
Fbaezer was 10-6 followed by George and Jespah at 9-7.
The best ESPN dude was 12-4 and the worst (snicker) crawled in at 7-9.
For the season Johnboy and EhBeth won the weekly prize 3 times each followed by Tico and McGentrix who each won twice. Rhys, Region, Edgar, Wandeljw, Ragman, Cowdoc and Panzade each garnered 1 win.
An then there is this. CoinToss/CoinToss finished week #17 at 14-2 narrowly missing a perfect score. CT had Detroit over Green Bay and Cleveland against Pittsburgh.
Let me know if I made any errors this week.
And the final standings-
1) Johnboy (182-74 .710) wins the title
2) Ragman (175-81 .683) takes 2nd place, 7 games out of 1st but 5 up on
3) Coastalrat (170-86 .664) makes a nice move in the final three weeks
4) Tico (169-87 .660) breaks out of a tie for 6th
5) EhBeth (168-88 .656) finishes the season nicely
5) Cowdoc has to think back to week #16 when he went 9-7
5) Liontamerx has had a steady season
8) Fbaezer (159-84 .654) slips from 5th
9) George (167-89 .652) slumps from 4th
10) Wandeljw (166-90 .648) remains in 10th
10) Region does the same
12) McGentrix (165-91 .644) climbs from 13th
12) Spendius holds on to a share of 12th
14) Osso (164-92 .640) ends the season down 1 spot from last week
15) Mysteryman (161-95 .628) stays where he was last week
16) JPB (159-97 .621) stays where she was
17) Mis Cowdoc (158-98 .617) stays where she was
17) Edgar stays where he was
19) AndyClubber (157-97 .613) stays where he was
20) Rhys (155-101 .605) stays where he was
21) Jespah (137-119 .535) stays where she was.
The best ESPN expert finishes the season at 167-89 (.652) which ties George for 9th while the worst guy ends at 155-101 (.605) ends in 20th with Rhys.
CoinToss ends the season at 144-112 (.562).
As a group we got about 64% of our picks right.
That's all, folks, unless there are corrections.
Please remember to post your picks for the wild card games to be played next Saturday and Sunday.

My goal was to finish the season at .670 or better. Maybe next year!
Thanks for a fun season, RJB, and congratulations on your personal achievement!
(George finished ahead of me by one game! Will I ever live it down?)
@wandeljw,
I think perhaps the Bears (and your loyalty to them) might've messed you up. Pointing a digit at Cutler, in particular - had he not jumped into the fray with that tackle that broke his thumb, they might be VERY much in the mix and your picks would be much closer to your goal.
@realjohnboy,
Congrats to you on your win and thanks again, RJB. You kept the contest's energy going and herded the unherdable.
@Ragman,
Thanks, Ragman. I was never able to pick against the Bears. Sundays would not be any fun unless I was 100% behind the Bears.
@wandeljw,
I know exactly what you mean. Until Cutler went down, they were in the mix and were the strongest team in the NFC (next to Packers). I was in that same boat with the Pats. It made no sense to pick against them 'cause I felt like it was so wrong to root against my team. Had I won the pick, it'd not have been fun.
@realjohnboy,
Thank you and Congratulations to realjohnboy!

Not if I can help it, no.
@realjohnboy,
Thank you, John Boy, as usual, a lot of fun. Congratulations to you for you nifty win.
