There are days, like today, when I miss Bob terribly, but mostly, his spirit is here all the time.

I'm so glad that so many people knew and loved him, even though he said, "I don't like you," to people he really cared about.

A2K really isn't the same without him.

@Diane,
Good to see you post here. Hope is going well for you.

That's the feeling for many others here. I didn't know him but I was a silent admirer. All the same, I looked fwd to reading his posts. I know it's an oddity to think of his A2K activity this way...but he was like a favorite program for me. He must have been a joy to get to know. He was a bright man.

I don't. I never liked Bob. And the feeling was mutual: Every time I visited him, he put a furry cat into my lap to make me sneeze.

(Hi Diane! Good to see you Smile )

@ossobuco,
Osso, what does insegrevious mean?
BTW, like Thomas I flatter myself thinking that Bob had a special dislike for me. Smile

@JLNobody,
It's a type of paradigm. Bob invented it. Sorry, but further details are frustratingly lacking.

Happy birthday to one of the greatest guys I ever met, a friend lost but never forgotten.

@Walter Hinteler,
If I ever knew it, I've forgotten. The birthday, I mean; not Bob.

Is that an extremely colorful painting of the Rio Grande Gorge?

Bobby I barely knew ya. Never liked you from the start. When I went to visit, you met me in a pick up instead of the Porsche. It's hard to like a man as hospitable and charming as you, however. I've always wanted to go back to that day.

Bob didn't like me and I didn't like him. It was one of my truly consistently successful relationships and I wish I could have it back.

It's been 3 years already? Hard to believe! We've had quite a few
interesting phone conversations and I'll treasure them dearly.
The good guys go earlier.....

@JLNobody,
Wrong again, he loved you and you two know it.

I'll have to ask Diane re insegrevious. I know he made it up, but I forget the circumstances. I think she even had a tee shirt with it. But wait, what color was the tee shirt?

@ossobuco,
Thanks, Osso, for letting me know this thread has come alive again.

insegrevious
(adjective) : eliciting irritation or disgust.

(Nonsense word invented in the 1960s by TV comedian/announcer Gary Owens)
I find you odious, abhorrent, and above all, insegrevious.

—Gary Owens

Bob had a long argument with a professor about the legitimacy of insegrevious. He won, of course.

It's true, he didn't like any of you, but he cared about you, respected you and found most of you very funny. I know that all of you meant so much to him. Why else would he spend so much time on a2k?

What fun to see this thread going again. The fourth anniversary of his death will be in May of 2015. It's hard to believe he has been gone that long. He was so funny, super smart, ornery and quirky, that I can hardly believe that some of his memory is slipping away. Slip slippin' away, but with my favorite photo, he is always near.

Does anyone have any favorite memories?

Early on, I noted his writing efforts on threads he started. Historical, mostly, if my memory can be counted on. I saw the serious side, in conjunction with the ever joking one. He also didn't mind letting us know if he disagreed, friend or not. I appreciated the honesty.

@Diane,
So many things, a lot of them visual.

Well, right off the bat, his teasing Mame.. not whatever he said, but his and her enjoyment.

Visual and active - his sanity when Pacco met Sally. I was so tired from the drive, just getting here in the dark, and frightened Pacco would go after her. Natch, he was wiser.

Cough, note my avatar change of a few days ago..

Adds, I remember Gary Owens (somewhat)

I was flattered that he started two threads - not birthday threads - that bore my name.

@Diane,
When I was on the phone with Bob, there was something he and I always discussed. He said that I was the only one who understood what he was talking about, and I said that he was the only one who understood what I was talking about. I miss having those conversations. Now when I try to talk about this subject, nobody knows what I'm talking about. Sigh.

Something that sticks in the back of my mind. Bob referred to many, many people as poopity heads. I once referred to myself as a poopity head. He said that I was NOT a poopity head. No explanation, but he was adamant. Why wasn't I? I didn't know then, I don't know now, and I'll never know. Phooey.

Hi Diane, Miss you and think about you. Como esta?

@Roberta,
Being able to talk about serious things ridiculously, ridiculous things seriously or both in their appropriate mode.
