@dlowan,
Yes. He was always a favorite of Bob's. I thought this thread would be a good place to pay tribute.

@JPB,
Bob has seen both videos just a few days before his death: we talked about our (and other A2K'ers) musical preferences, I showed him the first video on my laptop ... and then we found the second one.

Bob will always be a presence in my life. I will always be grateful for the short time I spent with him and Diane. (Not forgetting Osso and Roger).

@JLNobody,
And to you, JL.

I think Bob revered you.

Snicker.
I know you know I am kidding. Bob loved you, but he would tease.
I am aware that you teased him back.

Me, I can't see Rockhead's link. I know they cared.

@blatham,
Stop by the Rio Grande Gorge and toss it in. He's down there somewhere.

I was browsing around Goodwill today and came across a little handmade cherry wood bowl. I flipped it over to find the price and noticed it had this written on the bottom:

Quote:
Cherry from Portland, Ore. of R Wells

by Bob Wells
Hope, Id.

So of course I bought it.

Even though I know it would be an incredible long shot if it were our Bob Wells it still felt like a little message....

Wow!

I hope Diane comes around to comment on this. Wouldn't it be terrific if it turned out that he did do something like that in those places.

I recently bought several books at a library sale...and among them were two that had a notion on the inside cover...a date and the initials FWK...all written in the hand of my regular golf playing partner. One of them even had a recommendation. He does not live terribly near me...and never gave any books to this library...but he did give them to friends who apparently read them and then donated them to the library.

@Frank Apisa,
That's a great "small world" story, Frank! I love those serendipitous connections.

I remember that Bob had some connection with the Pacific Northwest -- a sister? -- because he talked to me about having spent some time here but I think it was years and years ago, not as recently as 99.

And I don't recall him ever mentioning woodworking. This bowl appears to have been made by someone with fairly serious experience with a lathe.

I'll get some photos of it to post.

I really doubt it was him but it still makes me feel happy and makes me miss him terribly all over again.
