@mysteryman,
Where would Detroit be if Chrysler, Ford and GM were gone now? At least Detroit has a fighting change...
The problem here MM is you don't seem to understand what a figure of speech is.
Where the auto industry is used to describe the lifeblood of a city.
Was it not Romney who at the same time said, "Let Detroit go bankrupt!"
Was he referring to the city or the auto industry?
The city of Detroit and the car industry are linked but not managed by the same people.
There was once a philosophy even among the dems that outsourcing to cheap labor would bring more money into the country and the rich people would take it upon themselves and find it in their hearts to trickle down their wealth to the middle class of America.
We have since learned there is no end to the greed of some of the biggest corporations. Thus regulation of this wealth is the only course of a country (and world body) ruled by the people versus ruled by corporations where anything goes for a price... "Anything" meaning, women's rights, secularism in government, ecological damage, equality, and even the right to happiness...
Happiness is for the select few according to the rich and to hell with the ruling body of "we the people" stipulated by the first amendment of our constitution. (cynical)
