@RexRed,
They just can't accept the fact that WASPS are getting smaller by the day! LOL

They keep lying to themselves that their attack on women and minorities are the best strategy for their disappearing party.

Michelle Bachmann wants to warn us that "if immigration reform passes we may never have a Republican President again."

This is indeed a sobering thought for Republicans who are now besides themselves with intense hatred for the immigration bill; the GOP believe if the bill is passed most Latinos will vote for Democrats. They [Republicans] appear trapped in a contradictory situation; they are faced with the overwhelming need to do something constructive, more humane, so the future for their kind is not totally wiped out....yet the disdain felt for these brown immigrants who do not look like them is a a gut-wrenching decision; I wonder if it will pass the House?

Truth of the matter is Latino lives, even though they have been disparaged much under white supremacy, have been slightly improved over African Americans whose darker color set them apart from most other ethnics. Many Latinos (Cubans) automatically vote Republicans but then again this particular group is in the minority. The average Latino, once this bill is passed with a path to citizenship, will in all likelihood seriously think about voting Republican and it will not be a difficult chore for the GOP. So it's in the power of the Republicans to turn things around for their party.

But the demographic change does not hold a positive future for the Republican Party as it stands today.

@RABEL222,
Reagan was not president at any time in the 1990's, so you mentioning his name at all in this discussion makes no sense at all.

Bill Maher: Ronald Reagan Was 'The Original Teabagger' (VIDEO)

Posted: 06/08/2013 12:24 pm EDT | Updated: 06/08/2013 12:24 pm EDT

Bill Maher took Ronald Reagan supporters on both sides of the aisle to task on the latest episode of "Real Time," declaring that the former President was "the original teabagger."

After hearing Bob Dole say that Reagan wouldn't fit in with today's Republican party, Maher contested that Reagan actually "wrote the playbook" for today's far-right GOPers. He compared Reagan's views on income inequality and race to today's Tea Party ("On race, his ideas couldn't be more Tea Party if he shouted them from a rascal scooter") and even credited him for inspiring today's colorful Tea Party protesters.

"He's the original, official pitch-man for batshit," Maher said, later adding: "When you mainstream Reagan, the far right becomes the new middle."

Watch the "Real Time" clip above to hear Maher's full takedown and share your thoughts in the comments.

___________
Mysteryman, the minute Ronald Reagan became president of the US the homeless hit the streets in every major metropolitan city in the US. He was an awful president for the average American and I don't care how the GOP pretend he was holier than any man living. He was a sneaky Republican who with his acting skills came across as legit, serving only himself and the rich!

@Moment-in-Time,
So true~! I remember him well for firing all the air controllers, because they were in the union. Unions have helped nonunion workers get better pay and benefits, but conservatives only want the rich to get richer, while the middle class and poor continues to lose.

Bruce Bartlett on CNN: “Rick Perry Is An Idiot And I Don’t Think Anyone Would Disagree With That”
http://theeverlastinggopstoppers.com/2013/06/bruce-bartlett-cnn-rick-perry-idiot-disagree-that/

Excerpt:
"American Historian Bruce Bartlett, who worked as an aide to President Ronald Reagan and as a Treasury official for President George H.W. Bush, doesn't have a lot of respect for Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry’s intellect.
“Rick Perry said the Fed is treasonous,” CNN’s Christine Romans told Bartlett Friday during an interview about the economy.
“Rick Perry is an idiot and I don’t think anybody would disagree with that,” Bartlett replied."

@cicerone imposter,
Talk about telling half a story!!

Remember, the air traffic controllers had a no strike clause in their contract. They violated that clause, and put the entire flying pulic in danger.

He didnt fire them simply because they were in a union, he fired them for violating their own contract.

You should at least try to get the facts right.

@Moment-in-Time,
And that means what?
We were talking about the last 2 decades (20 years).
What Reagan did or did not do has absolutely no bearing on what we are talking about now.

He was President from 1981 thru 1989, so unless you want to blame the start of high gas prices and the start of inflation on president Carter, you cant blame Reagan for what current presidents do.

@mysteryman,
That's not half the story; Reagan hated labor unions.

Do you think he would have fired them if they were not in the union?

You don't know much about Reagan - or American history.
