@parados,
Here's the real facts on Obama's promise about transparency.

Obama's transparency record: lots of data, not as much sunlight

On the campaign trail in 2008, Barack Obama promised more transparency in the White House.

On his first day in office, President Barack Obama pledged to hold himself to "a new standard of openness."

Nearly four years later, he has made significant progress. He released White House visitor logs, created an "ethics hub" for lobbying and ethics reports, and posted a database about how the economic stimulus was spent.

But in other areas, he has succumbed to the gravitational pull of Washington to conduct business behind closed doors. He broke a promise to televise meetings about health care on C-SPAN, he failed to keep his "sunlight before signing" pledge to wait five days before signing legislation and he hasn't created a "contracts and influence" database to disclose how much federal contractors spend on lobbying.

PolitiFact has tracked his transparency promises on the Obameter and found mixed success. Of his 14 core promises, PolitiFact rated four Kept, five Compromise, and five Broken.

Transparency advocates say he made progress but has fallen short of his lofty goals.

He shouldn't make promises he can't keep.

I was thinking about all the propaganda against the ACA and thought I'd post some propaganda for it.

"We Democrats in my rural, very red Virginia county are sponsoring ACA sign-up clinics 22 and 29 March at our local library. In preparation for the clinics, several of us volunteers spent a few hours helping our regional navigator as he worked with uninsured people to help them get insurance.

One of the people he assisted was a single mother of three -- husband killed a few years ago in an industrial accident. She works a part-time cashier's job and cleans houses; her mother and sister take turns keeping the kids. Of course she has no medical insurance and doesn't remember when she or any of the three children saw a doctor.

The Navigator found her a policy that pays 95% of her medical costs, has lots of free stuff (mainly regular exams and check-ups for her and the kids), and with subsidies will cost her $51 a month.

She couldn't believe she didn't have to pay the Navigator. She didn't believe she did not have to promise to vote for Democrats. She didn't believe it when the Navigator printed her insurance card on the spot. When the fact of what she had done finally sunk in, she couldn't stop crying and hugging everyone in sight. Neither could the rest of us.

Episodes such as this make me proud to be a Democrat and make me realize how fortunate I am to have Medicare and TriCare For Life. And it makes me want to punch out the next dozen or so Republicans I hear spreading bullshit about the ACA."

SO the selling point is that she does not pay for her medical care, someone else does. Who, how much, and how does this help with the major problem of the system, that it costs way too much to operate and provides generally poor service? When I evaluate programs I usually look to see if they solve problems in an efficient way at a reasonable cost, I dont look only to how cheap it is to a particular person. I have a strong suspicion that you also support carbon taxes specifically because the user has an artificially low price thus does not care much how much carbon they produce thus they burn away harming the planet. You probably also support a massive increase in the min wage because the low wages create costs for the collective in the form of welfare payments that we should not have. You already know that looking at one tree does not tell you much about the health of the forest, you say so all the time, but when it suits your purposes to pretend otherwise there you are.

Has anyone besides me noticed that the word "insurance" has been redefined? It used to be a scheme were large numbers of people paid into a fund so that if they needed a service the bills would get paid, the whole idea was to level out the costs year to year, it was not to get out from under the costs. Now it means that someone has agreed to pay the bill, who does not matter. The vast majority of those covered under ACA are not getting insurance, they are getting a welfare benefit renamed insurance because welfare is not cool.

@panzade,
Another interesting report on ACA in today's San Jose Mercury News. It seems Asians are signing up at the highest rate in California - 23%, even though they make up only 13% of the population.

@panzade,
The biggest problem Obama has is that he makes too many promises that he can't keep. He should keep his mouth shut about things he knows little to none about. Are we still waiting for him to shut down Gitmo?

they also tend to run on the black market economy, they dont have incomes according to the government so under ACA they get medical welfare at little to no cost to them. Sounds like a no brainer. The mexicians would be signing up too in large numbers since they also tend to be on the black market economy but many are illegal and fear being on the governments radar.

that is the story with guns

2013 was a record year. That would be ANOTHER record year.
