No. I am not saying that at all. But I do not think it is virtue that floats their boat. In fact, the farthest thing from it. Power and control is what is dear to them. And virtue is not, or has ever been, a factor.

Then you agree that the government is required to make the elite act in a moral fashion. We can't rely on them to donate money. We need to confiscate it from them with taxation because they are selfish and couldn't care less about the rest of society that they suck their money from.

The government does not have one thing do with morality. It does have something to do with enforcing the rule of law. And it now picks and chooses what laws to enforce. And the elite is never held accountable. Unless they are conservatives

So the government needs to make them accountable by taxation.

What makes you think not giving to charity is immoral, or paying more in taxes is moral? It is an informed opinion that stops people since charities are many times unscrupulous.

And paying more because you make more is patently unfair anyway you look at it.

A tale of two Americas: Hawaii’s life expectancy exceeds Switzerland’s, but Mississippi’s is on par with Libya’s.

Here's why: http://onmsnbc.co/xkifRy

Hawaii, America’s healthiest state, outranks Sweden and Switzerland, with an average life expectancy of 83 years. Yet people die younger in Mississippi (with an average life expectancy is 75) than in Libya or Lithuania.

That's because Mississippians vote for conservatives who takes away education, health care, and unemployment insurance.

They vote themselves into an early grave.

a interesting piece that posits the idea that Obama and the D's ******* over the young Americans with their ObamaCare wealth redistribution plan might nuke the D's electoral chances.

http://www.thefiscaltimes.com/Columns/2013/12/05/Millennials-Jump-Ship-over-Obamacare-Bait-and-Switch

Quote:
They can always buy insurance later if they need more comprehensive coverage, thanks to the must-issue mandate being placed on insurers that drives the need for the premium revenues. If only 25 percent are even inclined to consider enrollment, the entire wealth-redistribution structure of Obamacare is at risk of collapse.

Obama wants to counter this with a sales pitch to younger voters, combined with a pivot of sorts to the economy – namely, a demand for a minimum-wage hike. Obama’s problem in this effort is his track record on sales pitches, as well as the demonstrable incompetence of his administration to manage his projects. Young voters bought all of those Obama lines about keeping your plan if you like it, and lower premiums for all. They are not likely to fall under that swoon again when the bills are now coming due each month for the betrayal Obama provided in place of his promised Utopia.

And it’s not just the President who needs to worry about this. In a demographic that usually skews sharply Democratic, the partisan affiliation gap has closed nine points, 33/24. Among those 25 years of age and younger, it’s down to six points in the Harvard poll. Across the whole survey, more align themselves with conservatives than liberals (37/33, 26/22 without leaners). Only half of the survey say they will definitely or probably vote in the 2014 midterms.

Losing their traditional demographic edge would be a disaster for Democrats, not just in votes but also in enthusiasm and activism. That’s what happens when the bill comes due on Obamacare, as younger Americans are increasingly discovering for themselves.

@hawkeye10,
Hey, dopey, most developed countries have what everybody calls universal health care; they're healthier and happier than their counterparts in the US of A. And they live longer.

Education, transportation safety, and infrastructure upkeep are all "redistribution" of wealth - in your eyes, because you are blind.

You need medical attention.

you dont introduce a new young to old wealth redistribution plan when the young are getting fucked by the economy, and when previously started young to old wealth redistribution plans are getting oppressive.

what we need right now is for the boomers to take a massive entitlement cut so that those below them can have some kind of a chance at a decent life. it is the boomers who have primarily mismanaged this nation over the last few decades, let them pay up.
