Describe Yourself

If someone asked you to describe yourself, what is the first word that pops into your mind. Just the first word. Not a whole long list. THE FIRST WORD.

The word that popped into my mind isn't just how I describe myself, but I think it's how I've defined myself ever since I was a little kid.

@djjd62,
Oh, I like that, dj. I'm not at all enigmatic. But that's a good one.

@Roberta,
i don't think i'm outwardly enigmatic, but definitely inward, it's a good thing most folks don't know what's going on in my head at any given time (except for that annoying talking to ones self, and committing stuff to the interwebs)

even as a kid i reveled in things that made the world absurd, allan sherman's songs, monty python, a couple of canadian radio comedy groups, and later shock jock radio guys like howard stern and opie and anthony, so i go through life in a fairly ordinary way, thinking and sometimes saying the most extraordinary things

sometime in the 70's i saw a gahan wilson (creator of the adams family) cartoon, two people stumble upon the scene of folks worshipping an altar with the word "nothing" written upon it, on says to the other, "is nothing sacred", i knew then i'd found my church

@djjd62,
Thanks for coming back, dj. I was coming back to ask you whether you're an enigma to yourself or to everyone else. But you answered that.

Are you suggesting that you're unknown to yourself? Or that you don't know why you like what you like, do what you do, or say what you say?

Is nothing sacred? Love that. I may adopt that myself. I think I already have.

@Roberta,
I guess I'm too literal.

I read "describe yourself", and thought in terms of how someone would spot me if we were meeting.

I describe myself as short.

@Setanta,
I'm guessing, fm, that your curiosity led you in a number of different directions. Did it focus you on your work?

bethie, I don't remember you as being all that short. But I'm shrinking.

set, Okey dokey.

beth and set, I was not intending this to be about how you look but rather on who you are. However, if those are the words that popped onto your respective heads, then that's what popped into your heads.

Puts me in mind of an old song: "I'm a little teapot, short and stout."

@CalamityJane,
Interesting, CJ. Where has your tenacity taken you? How has it affected you?

That's why I said I was probably too literal. Describe yourself is different than define yourself (IMNSHO).

@ehBeth,
beth, You're certainly entitled to your NSHO, but describe doesn't relate only to physical characteristics, and define yourself is a bit more than I was looking for. In fact, I was expecting (as happened to me) that the one word that popped into my head if I had to describe myself is what defined me.

@Setanta,
Aha, interesting, set. Stout can also mean strong in body and mind. Brave. Give me some men who are stout-hearted men . . .

Where has your stoutness taken you in life?

@Rockhead,
RH, Pariah? The first word that popped into your head. That makes me sad. Is it a feeling or a reality--not that it matters. If you feel it, it's real.
