@farmerman,
It would be so cool to see Beck in a debate with anyone with half a brain. I think that if this guy went into politics he would be dead meat within a couple of weeks.

Has he ever been on Jon Stewart or Colbert?

Why not flood Fox asking to see some debates between Beck and [pick your favorite]?

@JTT,
Well, at least that leaves OmSig with two men cut from the same cloth to adore.

@farmerman,
Sure, in 50 years folks will watch old clips of Beck the way they might watch Ernie Kovacs now. Without context, he'll seem like a comedic genius.

Not living in the US, I have no idea about why his show will be ending.
But I just came across this piece in the (UK) Guardian's "comment is free" section.
I'm posting it here on the chance that some of you might interested.:

Quote:
Why Fox News let Glenn Beck go
This was neither a commercial nor a political call. Fox wants to keep its brand mainstream and Beck is popular but 'out there'

@msolga,
Take the most ignorant, dumbest person you've ever come across in your short time on this planet, Ms O, cube that level of stupidity and it'll at least bring you closer to understanding.

@JTT,
Confused
Why his show is ending, JTT?
I could never understand why it was so (apparently) popular & lasted so long. (Going by what I've seen of the program on the internet.)
I also couldn't understand what his appeal was & why he was addressing masses of (apparently) adoring followers at rallies.
So why should the reasons for the show ending at this point be any more obvious?
Someone, somewhere in the higher political echelons knows the true answer to that one.

@msolga,
In other words, if you want the real answer, ask Rupert! Wink

But I was serious about this.
I doubt the program ending is due to advertising revenue concerns, or Fox wanting to change its "image".
I'd suspect that Glenn Beck has served Rupert Murdoch's own agenda & now Murdoch is moving onto the next stage of his (media empire) agenda. Whatever that might be.
We'll find out what that is soon enough.

@JTT,
It does or it doesn't, JTT?
(I have trouble sometimes know whether a poster has their tongue in there cheek or not, when they make a comment like that. Wink )

Being that he's 80, hopefully we won't.

I know Stewart has an open invite for him, but he's never accepted. Even O'Reilly had the balls to go on.

I suspect that The Daily Show will take on several new writers to make up the shortfall now that Beck is no longer broadcasting free material.

@JTT,
I seriously doubt that will stop him.
Besides, their are other interested & involved parties, some very close to his ear.
