@Swimpy,
I really like the dresser. Dunno re the mirrored tables, though I'm not exactly against them.

@Swimpy,
Very nice, Swimpy. These mirrored side tables are the latest rave and so hip,
I love it!! Look at Target they have a similar dresser

@ossobuco,
I have reservations re: the dresser. It's oak, which will add yet another wood to the scheme. It's dark enough that the grainis not real prominent, so I guess it could work.

@CalamityJane,
It won't be the same quality, CJ. I love Target, don't get me wrong, but you get what you pay for.

I just snuck upstairs to look at the finished floor. It looks beautiful. I took some pictures. I'll post them tomorrow.

@ossobuco,
k here we go up the refinished steps:

Stopping at the top of the steps to see the transition to the walnut floor:

At the top of the steps at the left is the closet:

at the top of the steps take a hard right:

Keep walking forward and on the right just past the railing is the bathroom:

keeping on into the bedroom area. The dresser will go along the short wall on the left.:

Turn to the right and you are looking at the place where the bed goes. The headboard will go up against the far short wall.

@Swimpy,
Thanks for the pictures!

The walnut seems to co-exist nicely with the lighter oak -- picking up some of the same colors even though it's mostly darker.

I look forward to seeing everything all together!

That looks so nice, Swimpy, you will love your bedroom even more now...
but those stairs are steep. You can't have a couple too many when climbing them up Wink

@CalamityJane,
Well, this is an opportunity for a good looking handrail sometime in the future. I once saved good looking handrail photos for gardens and houses, but have tossed them.

@ossobuco,
Yea, they are steep steps. A handrail is in our future. Are there good looking handrails?

@Swimpy,
Yes, there are, especially if you don't have to follow code for some types of buildings. I might have lied, I'm not sure I tossed all my handrail photos. I have dozens of design notebooks I'm painfully getting rid of stuff in. Nag me if I don't come back to report on this, as if I have good photos (i.e., article cutouts), I can scan and post them as examples of interest or detestation.

@ossobuco,
I'm not aware of any code I'd have to follow. My only requirement is that it not stick out too far eating up already limited space. I hate it when I bang my knuckles carrying a laundry basket up or down the stairs.

On another note, my tax refund showed up in my checking account today! Yippee! Just in time to pay the floor guy!

@Swimpy,
Yes, code has only certain application, although their height choices make sense, generally.

@ossobuco,
This reminds me, in my/our last gallery, the stairway to the stars (toilet) was high and steep and had a short rail. Since that building was built, people generally became taller.

Nice! Thanks for posting the photos. I like the way some of those carmel tones in the walnut tie in with the lighter wood.

@Tai Chi,
Thanks, Tai. I just wish you could all see it in person. Photos fail to capture the real colors in the floor.

Swimpy, what is that white thing on the floor that looks like a baseboard but isn't?

@CalamityJane,
I think you mean the baseboard heating. It's acutally a long radiator.
