@tsarstepan,
First of all, we need to know what size frames and mattes she bought. I'll even volunteer to send her one of my pictures to fill one of those frames.

No! I take photos. I have can print photos. But between my dinky, old camera, my cheap, old printer I am limited as to what will be good enough to frame (limited by size too). But, if y'all wanna send me some free art.......

Here's one that I took in Taromina that might appeal to you.

Neat. Just wondered how long it took for somebody to create that gem.

Has anyone had any experience with other watercolor papers besides ARCHES? Im trying to fond a wc paper that has a brighter whiteness , yet a good water holding capacity like ARches. I find that Whatman is too timid and the papre begins to ball up when its messed with in successive washes.

I nedd tough but strong white. (Arches is a little too much of a cream color for my comfort and its getting to be too cardboardy)

@farmerman,
Can you firm up--and brighten the whiteness of-- an arches paper with white (water based) acrylic gesso? I never use watercolors, but I do use acrylic washes.

@JLNobody,
I do a lot of wet on wet washes and Ive found that acrylic anything (including gessoes) will stop-up the tooth of the paper and make it not allow the colors to spread out freely.

@farmerman,
O.K., I would have to have had experience with watercolors and watercolor paper to know that. The value of conversation.

@farmerman,
Yes, acrylics (and very occasionally ink, charcoal and pastels). I don't have much of a sense of smell, but the only thing I like about the smell of acrylics is that they don't smell like oils (turpentine).

@JLNobody,
I love oils , even though Im relatively new to them. My training and my seniro portfolio was all illuatration in watercolors and airbrush.

@farmerman,
Ive been reading about all the new properties of acrylics.Seems they have slower drying, more soluble, and more "toothy" acrylics that appear like oils in impastos. I know that JL likes acrylics. Has anyone tried these neq ones or am I so far behind that Ive been passed by this new tech?

I never warmed up to acrylics because they always appeared to droopy and really high piles of thick paints werent possible without the acrylics looking too round edged. Also they dried too quickly for my book.
