I come up with this as being the national debt changes for Bush's 2nd term and for Obama thus far:
1/1/2005: $7.60T
1/1/2009: $10.62T (up 40%)
1/1/2011: $14.04& (up 32% from 2009)
Amounts are adjusted to put data in 2011 dollars (ie adjusted for inflation)

I have never been impressed with the argument that a President becomes responsible for all of the dirty dishes in the sink when he starts a term (Bush: 1/2005; Obama: 1/2009).

Anyway, 7 Repubs get together tonight in NH (CNN: 8-10 pm ET). I will try to watch but I suspect that all 7 will have carefully scripted non-answers to reporters' questions. The target could be the presumptive front-runner, Mitt Romney, but I think it will be a roast of Obama.

@realjohnboy,

Obama is burnt toast.

One of the 7 debating tonight will be the next president of these United States.

@H2O MAN,
I see 4 or 5 potential candidates not participating tonight. Are you suggesting that they don't have a chance?

@realjohnboy,
The story behind those numbers are more important; Obama spent money to help salvage the Great Recession, give tax breaks to the middle class, and provide support for those who have lost jobs - most of which is the result of the Great Recession.

Quote:
$288 billion in tax cuts.
$224 billion in extended unemployment benefits, education and health care.
$275 billion for job creation using federal contracts, grants and loans.

Wrong!

Obama spent money to pay for the votes that got him elected and to fulfill campaign promises made to unions.

@realjohnboy,
The way I see it, those 4 or 5 will no longer have a chance, it's going to be between the 7 participating tonight.

@H2O MAN,
The 2nd and 3rd highest preferred people in the Republican poll of polls lately are not going to be there tonight. Why do you think they have no chance?

Poor pitiful parasite can't accept the fact that his president doubled
the US national debt since taking office. I guess ignorance is bliss.

I can do math.. Can you?
http://www.treasurydirect.gov/govt/reports/pd/histdebt/histdebt_histo5.htm

The outstanding US debt at the end of 2008 was 10,024,724,896,912.49
Current US debt is.. 14,427,243,110,001

So.. how is 14 double 10?
Care to explain your math to us?

@parados,
waterboy has never been able to produce facts; only grade school retorts without any basis in fact or evidence. Don't waste your time trying to convince waterboy that he's always wrong; it's no use.

1st part of the debate was a short intro by each candidate. All talked about their families. Newt referred to the Obama's depression and Paul to "defending liberty."
1st round of questions involved attacked Obama, except Bachmann formally announced her candidacy.

@realjohnboy,
Bachmann seemed to say that the Tea Party appeals to Dems and centrists.
