@H2O MAN,
And you don't have an answer, obviously.

The real world just doesn't seem to fit your world view.

So.. let me ask again.. If Obama has opposed ALL oil production then why is US production up and imports down?

@parados,
And you still can't read.

Patasite, you've confirmed your being an ignoranus more than once, but this is taking your personal stupidity to a whole new level...

Your pas at the pump averaged $3.37 in January. In 2010, January gasoline prices averaged just $2.71 a gallon.
And experts predict that gas will be around $4 by this summer.

Who will the Democrats blame now that they don’t have their two oil men in the White House?

Remember – oil production on federally owned lands in the US is down … that’s DOWN … by 40%.

Deep water drilling rigs that used to work in the Gulf of Mexico now work off the coast of Africa and Brazil.
And some Obama sycophant was telling us in the last election that Americans
really needed to be paying the same for gas that they’re paying in Europe.

That's an interesting stat Spurt. Too bad you don't understand the source of it.

That is down 40% from 2000 and who was President from 2000-2008?
But there seems to be a problem with the numbers from the Institute for Energy Research that created that bullet point. They even state as much
Quote:
The following bullet (and charts below) cites data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA). EIA subsequently discovered that the data they used for determining oil and natural gas production numbers on federal lands were incorrect and they are working to fix the problem.

When you download numbers from the Dept of the Interior
http://www.blm.gov/wo/st/en/info/newsroom/Energy_Facts_07/statistics.html
It shows 107 million barrels in 2000 and 112 million barrels in 2010 produced on Federal lands. That isn't a 40% decrease no matter HOW you do the math.

Once again, reality seems to bite you in the ass Spurt.

Back to discussing the election,

Obama is now leading Romney nationally by 4-6% depending on the poll. He's even leading by that much in Rasmussen, a pollster that typically produces a more right-wing result than other pollsters do.

He's leading all of the GOP candidates in OH.
He's leading all the GOP candidates in FL.
He's leading all the GOP candidates in VA.
He's leading all the GOP candidates in NH. (I only mention this b/c some people are silly enough to think Romney could win there)
He's leading all the GOP candidates in CO.
He's leading all the GOP candidates in NV.
He's leading all the GOP candidates in NM.
He's leading all the GOP candidates in IA.

This is not a bad situation for the prez to be in. If the economy continues to improve (which today's data seems to indicate could happen) Obama seems likely to win the upcoming presidential election.

We were discussing the many reasons America does not want or need Obama elected to a second term.

@Cycloptichorn,
It won't do much good if we're not also working to ensure he has strong majorities in the House and Senate.

Spendi, that's all very interesting and I appreciate your sharing it, but what does any of it have to do with the 2012 race for The White house?

It was merely general background relating to States Rights v Federalists. I think Mr Gingrich is more likely to be a Federalist than the others. Mr Obama is an obvious Federalist. $10 a gallon points to that.

Some might prefer City Slickers v Country Gumpies. Is there any bootleg gas in the Flyover regions?

@Cycloptichorn,
The economy is definitely improving in Silicon Valley; Apple just leased buildings in Sunnyvale that will house over 3,000 workers. Our town now has Apple, Google, Facebook, and Nokia as "residents," and they continue to expand. There is a resurgence of a building boom in Silicon Valley.

I was walking back from a meeting at UC Berkeley yesterday and saw no less than 5 signs proclaiming 'help wanted.' Never a bad thing. Construction has also picked up, with several buildings and sites that had been 'on hold' for years, now being built.

@Cycloptichorn,
Nobody need bother about Mr Obama's ability to create an election boom. I take such matters for granted.

@spendius,
That these leads and lags, surgings and saggings are simply reported as facts and not explained suggests that talk about centralisation and regionalism is not polite in US chattering circles which are usually federalising.

They might be explained by how different states interpret the nuances of the candidate's pitch in the light of their own interests.

To what extent are members of Congress seen as representatives, ambassadors even, of the areas they are elected in or as legislators for a national entity. Such a balance exists in most countries which are coalitions of regional entities but it seems more pointed in the US than elsewhere of developed democracies.

@cicerone imposter,
Toyota in Gibson county IN, about 45 miles from here, just announced that they will be adding 400 new jobs.
That will be a big help to the local economy.

@mysteryman,

Go figure, the plant in Princeton is a non-union shop.

“Toyota isn’t coming to Indiana because of cheap labor, but probably because of a very productive facility, a robust local supply chain and a state economy that ensures long-term certainty over the direction of taxation,” the economist at Ball State said.

@cicerone imposter,
I think it excellent bearing in mind all the higher incomes that are earned spouting bullshit and Indiana being a manufacturing state churning out useful things.

Don't forget though about the religious 84% in Indiana.
