Just jumped to a full 11-point lead with 14% reporting.

If Gingrich wins, that will shake things up no matter what.

But if he wins big, that could be extra-interesting.

Finn was spreading lies about me in another thread, and i called him on it. That's why he's trying so hard to get a rise out of me. Wouldn't it be interesting if Finn actually had something to the point on this topic to say? Wouldn't it be interesting if Finn could actually back up the claims he makes? I don't look for either of those to happen any time soon.

On the topic, i'm delighted to see Newt doing so well. I doubt if he could get elected, but if he did, although everyone else would suffer, the Republicans would get just what they deserve.

If Gingrich wins SC the coronation of Romney will be delayed.

If Romney, between n0w and the Florida primary, can't come up with better answers to his taxes and Bain Capital, he doesn't deserve to be president.

@Setanta,
A gnat can get a rise out of you. No one has to try hard to do so.

The sad truth is it may take terrible things like that to happen in order to wake up some of the republican masses.

@sozobe,
I won't keep doing this, but wow, 14-pt lead, 20% reporting.

I agree. Romney is expressing an arrogance that is truly offensive.

@sozobe,
If we look back on all of the other presidential races we will find the media trying to sensationalize ever aspect of the competition.

They do so for ratings, and they have admitted as much.

The media hopes they are pronouncing self-fullfilling prophecies but this game as been in play too long.

How sad for all of us.

We can't rely on the Media to report the actual news, we can only rely upon them to report the news that drives up the viewership of folks who will watch their programs and agree to being brainwashed by corporate sponsers that they seek to please.

@Finn dAbuzz,
That's the reason for polls; it's been pretty reliable - most times.

@Setanta,
I think Soz has expressed a couple of times that she would love for Gingrich to get the nomination. I kind of agree with her - I think Gingrich's grandiose bombast would have an eventual, inevitable backlash on him in a Fall contest against Obama. But I also see the potential for his ability to amass behind him the blind and bitter people that don't care about policy or principle, but only that someone tears the "food stamp president" Obama from the white house, so they can "get the country back".

@snood,
But, if he can't counteract that then we'll get the government (President) we deserve. I think he's up to it.

Romney is doing a bit better then I expected in Greenville County which is up on the NC border. Home to the very conservative Bob Jones University, it contains more votes than most other counties.
But overall, Gingrich has taken votes away in most other parts of the state.

Now what was so hard about that? You do seem to agree. Laughing

@snood,
Sadly, i have to agree with that. That's why i qualified my comment about Newt. I do suspect that as the campaign progresses, the Republicans will be drawn more and more toward the crypto-racist code language about a welfare state and "entitlements." The irony from the party that gives away billions in corporate welfare is killer.
