Mitt Romney on his numerous flip-flops:

The whole idea of who's "blacker" tastes kinda foul to me. I think I've experienced both situations - where my blackness was in question, and also where I've been perceived as too black. Both are bullshit.

If I have a problem with Cain related to "blackness", it has to do with things he himself has opened up, like when he denigrates black democrats as "brainwashed", or when he claims to be "blacker" than Barack Obama.

I'm inclined to agree with you. The variations among individuals of any color are very large compared to the supposed average qualities of each group. We are all individual people first and foremost, and the whole fabric of perceptions and expectations imposed on people because of their skin color is both offensive and misleading. The problem is that we all in various ways too often succomb to various aspects of this kind of group think. Whether Cain is more or less "black" than President Obama is a basically meaningless issue. By the same token the suggestions often heard from political opponents that Cain (or in an earlier period, Clarence Thomas) is not "authentically Black" in outlook, or is otherwise beholden to "anti Black" forces is equally meaningless and offensive.

Cain Says he's the Koch Brothers' "Brother From Another Mother"

Billionaire oil magnates Charles and David Koch are the founding benefactors of Americans for Prosperity, a conservative group that admitted having controversial financial ties to the Cain campaign earlier in the week.

The Associated Press reported last month that the Cain campaign's deep connection -- or brotherhood, as Cain appears to contend -- to the Koch brothers could undercut the image he has tried to foster as a Washington outsider and businessman who is not part of the politics machine that is so often disparaged by the conservative base.

@snood,
The NRA has agreed to allow a lawyer for one of the first two women who accused Cain of sexual harassment to issue a statement. Her settlement with the NRA in 1999 precluded her from commenting.

@realjohnboy,
I presume that means she is breaking her word. In which case she should return the dough.

@spendius,
No, as far as I understand it. The NRA is releasing her from the non-disclosure clause.
I suspect that there will little news there. And, to tell you the truth as I see it, this story is running out of steam.
Coming up next: Cain's connection to the Koch brothers and allegations that Perry has been accepting discounted private jet costs from supporters.
A long year ahead.

I don't think Cain's gonna last for 3 more months; much less a year.

That sounds mighty fishy. Maybe a better story. Why would they do that? Herman ends up the gent!! The settlement was agreed. Herman shells out. Then agreement rescinded. Ain't that fraud?

@spendius,
No, because Herman did not "shell out". The organization, through its insurance company shelled out. Neither the agreement nor shell out involved Cain.

@spendius,
Cain is standing as a Republican nominee, the Republicans are known as the Grand Old Party or GOP. Cain has been accused of copping a feel or groping, thus the play on words G(r)OP(e). You don't have to find it funny to get it.
