Poll: Nearly half less likely to vote for candidates who back Trump
Source: The Hill

Nearly half of voters in a new poll would not support candidates who have endorsed likely Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Thirty eight percent said they are "much less likely" to vote for those who back Trump in the Morning Consult survey released early Tuesday.

Eleven percent said they are "somewhat less likely" to cast ballots for candidates supporting the billionaire.

Just 16 percent say they are "much more likely" to support down-ballot candidates who have voiced support for Trump.

Report: Donald Trump Posed As His Own Spokesman Named ‘John Miller’

May 13, 2016 11:06 AM

WASHINGTON (CBSNewYork/AP) — Back when Donald Trump’s love life was tabloid heaven, a Trump spokesman with intimate knowledge of the businessman’s personal relationships offered juicy stories about a failing marriage, a new live-in paramour and three other girlfriends he was juggling at once.

The spokesman’s name was John Miller. But The Washington Post says it was actually Trump, posing as his own spokesman on the phone with a reporter who wondered why Miller’s voice sounded so familiar.

The Post has unearthed a recording of that 1991 phone call.

In the phone call, the man who identifies himself as Miller calls the billionaire businessman “a good guy” while discussing Trump’s various relationships with his former wife Ivana, model Marla Maples, and former model Carla Bruni.

He also describes Trump as irresistible to women.

“He gets called by everybody in the book, in terms of women,” Miller said. “He’s got a whole open field, really.”

In the call with People magazine reporter Sue Carswell, who is now at Vanity Fair, the “spokesman” said “actresses just call to see if they can go out with him and things.”

He said Madonna “wanted to go out with him” and “came in a beautiful evening gown and combat boots” to hang out with Trump at the Plaza Hotel, which he owned. “He’s got zero interest that night,” said the man known as Miller, apparently meaning they did not have sex.

At one point during the call, Miller tells the reporter, “I’m sort of new here,” explaining that he’s handling PR for Trump part-time to field calls from the press.

“I worked for a couple of different firms and I’m somebody that he knows and I think somebody that he trusts and likes,” Miller says.

The Post reports Trump was known in those days for posing as public relations men to advocate for himself, under several alter egos.

On Friday, Trump denied being the voice on the phone, telling one morning news show, “I don’t know anything about it.”

But the Post reported he owned up to it at the time, describing the Miller call as a “joke gone awry.” Trump also testified in a 1990 court case that “I believe on occasion I used that name.” He also went by the name John Barron at times, the Post said.

Carswell told the Post she played the recording to Maples, who confirmed the call was from Trump himself and cried upon hearing him say that a ring he had given her was not meant to imply an engagement — although their engagement was announced weeks later.

Carswell says Maples persuaded Trump to invite her out with the two of them to make up for the trickery.

On Friday, “John Miller” was a top trending topic for hours on Twitter.

Gold! Though it's typical of chronic NPD behaviour.

We shouldn't be laughing on the way to get him a straight-jacket fitting.

@bobsal u1553115,
and we can laugh at builder for a similar arrogance. Builder is an Aussie, and we love Aussie's and they are great Allies. However, Builder is an interloper and doesn't vote in this country. I hope he votes in his country, and perhaps I should nose around and explain to him how many blunders I think his country has stupidly intruded into. But, I love Australia, and I admire their progress and temperament, and I would not ever insult the Austrailians because of those I've known and worked with, we share a vision. They are us and we are them. Builder is neither.

Please do; you'll find that that this nation follows the US blindly into any and all conflated or contrived situations, unfortunately. It's called the ANZUS treaty. Do yourself a favour, and read about it. It's why I'm interested in your situation, because it greatly influences ours.

He probably does. Voting is mandatory in Australia.

While that is the case, when either major party can't win a majority, they can recall the election. That, in my book, isn't democracy at all.

The minority parties are set to win a lot of seats in our July elections. If that is what the people want, then at least let the results of the election pass, and see what kind of government can be enacted from the results.

@Builder,
No dear, it's 5 eyes. Or in other words, its part of a larger agreement. Do you remember the other English speaking nations who belong to the other more comprehensive org? It's not just ANZUS, although I fully understand why that might be the only subset of which you are aware. Don't agonize over it, you likely only understand a portion of 5 eyes. Very few of my countrymen ever even think of it, they think we are all buddies and are unaware of the complexities of the treaties. Australia helps the US and the US helps Australia. If it wasn't in a treaty there would not be any reason for either of our countries to cooperate. Well. there would be good reasons, but governments insist on agreements. Australia doesn't follow the US blindly, and the US doesn't follow Australia blindly. Regardless of what you think, our country's along with 3 others crucial country's cooperate in a manner that benefits all of our interests. Your folks are stationed with us, and we are stationed with you. Do you even have a clue about the other three? Of course you do, but t's ok if you don't, perhaps you didn't spend as much time working for DIO or the AGO as I did for the US DOD.

Typical Builder ignorance and arrogance. The boy doesn't know **** about the United States or Americans, he just has his prejudices. Like so many ignorant people, his opinion of his wisdom is in inverse proportion to his actual knowledge.

Glitter has 'insight' on the five eyes that very, very few people ever get to have. She is an actual expert with source and information a lot of people will never ever get to know about.

You don't have to accept or agree but a bit of civility would be appropriate.

They played that interview on the CBC last night. Not sure why the reporter didn't recognize his voice straight off.
