@djjd62,
Ok...I gave it some James Joyce and he said Joyce writes like Harry Harrison.

I gave it some Shakespeare...and it said he writes like James Joyce.

Is it messing with my head, or just dumb?

@djjd62,
And that's good..?

It does sound like it's doing some pretty low level pattern matching, sentence length counts, syllable's per word, sentence per paragraph, maybe even some word use, pronoun frequency, punctuation preferences.

But then again it's convinced H.P. Lovecraft wrote the above two paragraphs. Maybe it's better with larger chunks.

@hingehead,
One of my old job applications was written by Cory Doctorow.

The first chapter of Great Expectations was written by P.G. Wodehouse

Too tired to try and find out more, but definitely curious.

@hingehead,
i put no faith in the analyzer, but for a fun random diversion i was happy with my results, say what you want about mr kings writing, i'd settle for half of his earnings, and to be compared to mr foster wallace, even by luck of the draw is an honour, although i'll wait a few more years for the death thing

@djjd62,
Julia Gillard's Prime Ministerial acceptance speech was also written by David Foster Wallace. I hope it's more than random. But who knows. Surprisingly small pool of writers turned up so far.

Messing with your head, definitely, Deb.

It knows what people like you are up to with these sneaky trick submissions & has a retaliatory Plan at the ready! Razz

I cheated and copied part of a H.C.Andersen fairy tale.

The answer was I write like James Joyce.

So I copied something by James Joyce and it said I write like Charles Dickens.
Now I am all confused.
