@HexHammer,
So, exactly, what do you suggest?

@HexHammer,
I don't think they all left. Some still post once in a while like yourself. You have done your share of blasting them for their insular views.

for the same reason women dont generally put a lot of effort into reforming their rapist... They are not invested in the project, they are emotionally repulsed by the idea of getting involved in the project, and they have already been hurt by this predator....really, reforming them has to be someone else's problem.

@hawkeye10,
Oh good grief.

Yes, A2K buying a forum that was for sale and wasn't going to survive in any form unless it was bought is EXACTLY like rape, you're so right.

@hawkeye10,
I should add that it is very common for sexually victimized women to be heavily emotionally invested in harming their rapists...we along with Robert should not have been the least bit surprised at the reaction of the old Philform folks up to the current time to lash out in anger at A2K, with the desire to do harm.

Mostly this information was not relayed to the old community, and when it was it was done late and without sensitivity....the end of Philform I am sure felt similar to rape to many.

@sozobe,
"Bought" is probably too strong a word re the philosophy site. It was drowning, I believe, technically and financially. And the members there evidently did little or nothing to keep it afloat. But now they grouse.
A2K went through some similar trouble years ago, as old-timers here recall. The situation was explained candidly by the folks in charge and A2K got through that.

How many people are still around who realize that A2K was originally a spin off from "Abuzz" - which was a New York Times Q&A thread before it was shut down. There are quit a few, I wonder if Jespah has some form of a count?

Does Craven de Kere (the creator) ever show back up?

@BillW,
Bill, there are many members here from the former Abuzz. Not sure how many, but I do know that not all the former members go by the names they used originally.
Craven now goes by his name: Robert Gentle.

@BillW,
Abuzz was, I believe, a Boston Globe creation before the NY Times bought that paper. It was the 1st online chat thing I ever engaged in. It turned into a very vicious place and the Times shut it down.
Craven, Jespah and a couple of hamsters started A2K. They designed it and rolled it out slowly to invited guests to make sure the technology would work.
I joined as member #197 once it was opened up to the unwashed. There still are more people from the NE area then there statistically ought to be.

Hence more lefties and a few righties who are faking it for the hell of being different. I can't say I've come across a genuine rightie yet. Some of the sentimentality is appalling.

@realjohnboy,
I got into Abuzz in about 1995 or so. I often wondered why there were so many Bostonians and now I know. I remember it being vicious, then again I have never seen any threads that weren't - unless they were designed to keep opposing views out. I remember Craven moved the operation to California - now I guess it has been bought and sold a number of times. I remember seeing it rated in the top ten of active Q&A not chat sites. This was a few years ago. This one is important cause it has International appeal and a lot of history.

I know about the name change, I can tell a lot of the characteristic of the person but just can't quit remember the old name Wink

If opinions are illegal I'd have cause to pause and seek legal advice on admissibility.

He is still the one and only original owner of the A2K site.

You can keep up with Craven aka Robert and the site's growth/changes on the blog:
