No, I bought the site with only the intention of merging it in mind (maintaining it separately was not in the cards for me) and the repeated hacking of the software it was running only affected the timing, not the decision.
The timing made it very chaotic, and precluded a group import that would have gone a lot smoother, and I'm sure a lot of people feel I could have communicated with them more (which is inevitable no matter how much said communication takes place) but the merge itself was the only reason I purchased the forum, I do not have the resources (mainly time and energy) to run it separate forum but as part of groups software that was already in development it was doable (if not universally popular, of course).
But I'd really rather work on the groups code right now than keep talking about it and would rather let my code do the talking right now (I'm working on getting help on the communicating front so I can better do so).
