@linda6996,
By using a body mass calculator (link below) I found that you are actually considered to be slightly under your optimal weight. Muscle is heavier than fat, so you may be even more underweight than is indicated here. What does your doctor say about your weight?

Be very careful, Linda. Feeling that you are far more heavy than you actually are can lead to unhealthy decisions about eating. This perception is called body dysmorphic disorder. There's a link about it below.

@littlek,
well okay... thankyou for ur help. but to myself y do I still look fat? Because I don't just see how I look. I can also feel it. for example if I were to look at my stomach and I thought I looked fat. I would also be able to feel the fat around my stomach... so how could i be imagining something if I can touch it too... I also might be over reacting so can you tell me if a normal person is supposed to have fat around their stomach or should it be flat?

no such thing as a normal person in my opinion (and i wouldn't want to know one if there was), might be a good idea to get a physical examination, if the doctor feels your healthy you should be fine, you could also bring up the feeling you're having them, they might be able to suggest some suggestions for dealing with your body image perceptions

focus more on being healthy and less on body image

@linda6996,
Everyone is different within various ranges. I agree with the people here who say you should aim for health and not some idealized version of a body type that a few clothing companies are telling you is normal (the current mannikins at the GAP are freaks). Being too thin at your age will lead to bone problems when you get older. Want a big hump on your back when you're 65? Think that will look good? That's what happens if you do not get proper nutrition when your skeleton is forming during your teen years. Your nutrition also effects your skin, hair and nails and how healthy they look. Get too thin and your hair will fall out, your nails will break and your skin will look yellow and splotchy. You will also find boys are not attracted to skeleton bodies, only chubby teen girls will look at you with envy.

To answer your question, it is perfectly normal for a healthy 13 year old girl (or boy) to have a little fat around the middle. Why? Because during the next few years, you are mostly going to be adding height, not weight. You will naturally thin out as you get taller. This is the way most people grow. Just wait for your next big growth spurt. You will see.

Why not? Kids your age should see a doctor once a year.

@littlek,
never c the doctor the last time wen I was a baby. wen I was born. they are not good unless u need an operation because they don't fully cure u so they can get u to come bak again so they can get more money. I hav had no vaccinations and I am fine. no chicken pox or anything. hardly ever sick apart from the cold and never take medecine unless in great pain. look up vaccinations, good or bad? u can decide on watu believe but these r my beliefs. thanx for all ur help

@linda6996,
There isn't just one growth spurt. It's really unusual for someone to be completely finished growing at 13.

They are good. If you really look it up you will discover that- and I'm a trained herbalist who knows a lot about alternative medicine practices. Children die everyday for lack of vaccines. You are not getting sick because others around you have been vaccinated - be grateful and stay out of countries where they still have things like polio and whooping cough.

@linda6996,
So you think it was a coincidence that polio just disappeared after the vaccine became standard practice? Small pox? Where did that go? Whooping cough? Are you one of those people who believe God only afflicts poor people in other countries with these diseases and it's not because they lack medical care?

@Green Witch,

@djjd62,
Yeah, they really want to track what TV shows we watch and if we prefer Fruit Loops over Captain Crunch. They really don't care if we die of preventable diseases.

If you're feeling fat then get some exercise. Not only will it improve your health but it will distract you from how your body looks and make you feel good. You're 13 and your hormones are in flux and you're not finished growing, so it is normal for your body to appear fatter at times. Welcome to womanhood. If you're eating junk stop. If you're not getting any exercise then go for a walk. That's about all you should do at this stage in your life.

@sozobe,
I hurt my ankle in volleyball when I was 13 and had x-rays. I was told I was basically done growing from my growth plates, too. I'm now 17 and literally, I haven't grown much, if even an inch. It's possible to stop growing around 13. I just wouldn't consider it often.
